Default Diesel 2.2 Toyota Verso Engine Problem

Ello, so I recently brought a 2007 2.2D Corolla Verso family bucket. Was running fine but now has a bit of a lumpy start and looses power @ 2250 rpm. It's like something just cuts. I know sweet FA about diesel engines. Any ideas? I'm thinking injectors or fuel pump maybe....

If it's anything like the VW lumps there's no end of valves and sensors that can cause problems, need someone with a decent diagnostics tool to have a look.
