Tyre damage (driver front)

I've got a bulge in one of my tyres, do I need to replace immediately? I need the car to commute, but can't get a new identical tyre until maybe Tuesday.

I could replace with a mis-matching used tyre from place down the road whilst waiting, but don't know if that's worse because it'll have an effect on the drivetrain I read.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Used tyres open up a load more unknowns, when it's happened to me in the past I've moved it to the rear (admittedly on a fwd car) and taken it easy till I could get a replacement.

I thought that might be the case with a used tyre..But I've got about 75 miles of commute before Tuesday.

Perhaps it's best to just to drive gently then?!

I do have a spare I can put on, but it's not the same brand (it was just the one in the boot when I bought it). Would it be better safe, and on a slightly different tyre for a couple days then?

Sorry to ask such (probably) basic questions, I'm learning on the go..

Put the spare on but be careful thats its not directional.

Hi Big E,

I don't think it's directional, but it's not the same size as my tyres.

It's running on: 215/45 R17 91W. The alloys are standard I think. Do you think they will go well enough together?

The space saver should be the same circumference.

I thought you might have a full size spare.

Id keep things as they are but take it easy as you would have to using the spacesaver.

Obviously get it sorted ASAP

Hi Big E,

Putting the wheel up against the others, it doesn't look right. Seems as though might need to look into getting a better spacesaver. I had no idea how exact things need to be, so good to know.

I'll get it booked to have it done for Tuesday, so fingers crossed..

Tyres all done now, and kept the tyre which was still half-decent as a full-size backup!

A nice aluminium Mishimoto and silicone hoses would do wonders for cooling

except in general ali radiators aren't as effective as the OE item we find...........

As Alyn says, go for new OE if you need a replacement rad. They work well

I did go for a new OE radiator, Neil & Matt at Slowboy said something similar!

Matt also told me about how hot the Mishimoto ones get, and the skin you will lose 🤔😅
