Fluids - Time - Deterioration
So my question this evening is do oils / brake fluid's deteriorate over time.
I have some Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid from my old S3 probably 2 years old - should I still use it or get some new? Is unopened. Same question of oil - My scoob has only done 500 mile since last service but that was over a year ago now. I my mind the oil is pretty fresh but is it? Any chemical engineer types on here? |

No expert... but I'd say if the brake fluid is still sealed it should be fine? I certainly wouldn't use an open bottle if it had been left for that time though.
Engine oil.... it'll be fine at a year old. You need to use it more if you've only done 500 miles in a year |

I’m no expert but i wouldn’t have an issue using the brake fluid if not opened. That super blue stuff was good value for money.
Oil i would personally change unless left in a warm garage as i would have thought you would get condensation forming in engine and sump if left standing which would mix with oil. I am no expert though and for me a £50 oil change is better than risking it in my eyes.
