Default Cat back system

Loving my new STi , but finding the exhaust sound a bit quite. Being non technical here are a few questions. I understand that a cat back exhaust system will be a straight swoop for the existing part of the exhaust system, will not effect the running/map of the car, will not void the warranty, but will give me a better exhaust note. Is this correct?

I'd seek clarification around the warranty if you haven't already, I would generally expect any exhaust changes to void it...

As Steve said, warranty is worth checking. As far as cat back and map goes, no, it shouldn't need a map if you are just changing the rear section. It may be worth checking to see if they still have the resonated section (attached to the back box), as when I changed that on the hawk for a non resonated section, it was that that made quite a difference in sound. It was only about £100 from memory. Together with a decent back box, it sounded great with no need for a map etc..

I changed from cat back on my hawk and it made a difference, it had a resonator as well so removed that as well. Straight swap.

It looks like an axle back system should have the same effect, but not void the warranty. Anybody else fitted one?

Effectively just new back boxes then, guess you'll be looking at something like this if you're keeping the existing pipework.

Don't know anyone who's fitted one unfortunately.

Spoke to Steve (Lucky) who put me onto Scoobyworld who were most helpful. Steve suggested removing the resonator section and they do a pipe for this, but said it won't make to much difference as back boxes are packed with silencing material and also would give you a drone in the car. So they suggested changing the back boxes, which they can make as noise as you like. This seems the best option as I believe back boxes are considered consumables, so won't affect warranty.

Have rung Subaru France, but guy who deals with warranty questions is on holiday, as is 90% of the french population. Anybody know or have a contact at Subaru who would know if changing just the back boxes would affect warranty. Can't see that it would and my supplier said they didn't think it would, but check with Subaru France, who are on holiday.

Subaru UK are not actually Subaru.
There are actually named International Motors and are the UK Importers and distributers. Hence all the faff around Subaru UK not supporting imports.

So no point asking them, as they probably make it up as they go along and they will only sanction whatever their new brand of products are (since ditching Prodrive)

Having spoken to Scoobyworld I think I will just change the 2 back boxes which should give the result I'am looking for (a bit more burble) and as back boxes are considered consummables should not affect warranty. Also can't see how changing the back boxes can affect the engine, etc in any way. I believe Muzqaz, who has the same car as me,has fitted a different axle back system.

I think it’s scorpion exhausts sold through Subaru dealers (particularly Hammonds)
