Default Subaru at the 2016 Isle of Man TT

Seen a few pictures floating round on Facebook of the Subaru TT car for this year, but I spotted an article with a bit more technical details this morning:

http://www.roadandtrack.com/motorspo...ecord-wrx-sti/

Basically looks like they have built an unrestricted WRCar for the attempt. 117 MPH was the average lap in a production car, they reckon they can challenge the bike times in this car: that's a pretty bold claim!*

all depends which "bike" they are referring to.........

be intriguing to see how they get on but would have thought it will struggle with the 600 SS times never mind the 1000cc production or superbike times (Michael Dunlop did 132.5mph avg in practise last night!!)

Just back to the bikes, Ian Hutchinson did 132.8mph today.

If he does that in the race hell have a new record!

Just seen the first run was 126.97mph... about 9mph quicker than the previous record in a car.

That's bloody good.

Seems everything's quick this year; Dunlop was flying today!

I noticed that Prodrive referred to the Road & Track article in Facebook comments on Saturday morning, stating that some of the figures in the article were exaggerated and that they were hoping to crack 120 with the Saturday run...

...and they almost hit 127 first time out!

I'm really curious to see more about the technical specification of the Impreza, as the Road & Track article is a bit vague with details. In the testing videos the car sounds like one of the latter Impreza WRCars, so I'd like to know how much of the running gear is WRCar derived.

There's a bit of info here:

Not sure if there is anything that wasn't in the other article.

First time I've seen a shot under the bonnet. Engine setup looks identical to the S14 WRC from the picture.

I always love the Thermos flask installation. Always wondered what it was, even when I handled one in the machine shop on a prodrive tour.
A very neat way to keep your soup warm.

Looking at the hand fabricated inner wings and strut tops that is a serious bit of kit. Never really noticed the use of the scoop as an air intake rather than an intercooler before, surprised that route hasn't been adopted by more tuners.

in basic terms its uses the last spec Prodrive WRC car running gear / engine less the FIA required air restrictor.............all packaged in a 2016 shell to "look right"

For this that haven't seen it on Scoobynet. A bit more on the latest incarnation of this beast, Scott can finally find out what the little Thermos flask is for as well.
