Default and change...

Well the landrover went, and left me with a dilema, couldnt be without the creature comforts again, and always wanted a yank v8, but the garage wouldnt allow it,and wanted fast and reliable, the bmw ticket all the boxs! never having owned or worked on one before i can honestly say the build quality is second to none, and i should have made the switch sooner i think!and the v8 sounds awesome!! makes me enjoy driving it as much as i did the p1, and what a bloody handfull with traction control off!..
Already upgraded the headlight bulbs and fitted front splitter, maybe a stainless to unleash the v8 abit more in the future, roll on the summer!!

Looks great, Just got an M3 Coupe also 3 weeks back.

Unbelievable Engine. A masterpiece.

Looking forward to some dry roads as you say very difficult to unleash that V8 in M Mode without it getting twitchy.

What is the colour?
Manual or DCT?

I loved the car, switch everything off, set it to s6 and away you go, it was just that I didn't really use it that much as I worked from home and also it was out of warranty when I moved it on, had the instrument cluster changed under warranty and that was about £1500.
Couldn't justify a 30k car sitting there hardly being used, tempted to get another at some point, that v8 is a peach

There have been issues with the big end bearings on the older cars which seems to be starting to appear, that and the throttle actuators which is a common one

iv just had mine apart as a preventative measure this weekend, throttle actuators run a **** plastic gear set up,and they where very worn to say the least,so was a good shout, fitted two new units so something less to go wrong in the future.
Have heard that alot of big end issues are down to cheap and incorrect grade oil... same old story again...

can clearly see the difference in the diameter of the teeth..this then confuses the electrical side of things, mounted on to each actuator and puts the car into limp mode. you can replace one at a time but may aswell do both once youve got it apart..

There is a guy on m3 cutters forum that can do you a metal cogged upgrade to the throttle actuators I believe, does them on an exchange bases or can fit for you.

I did contemplate that route but sometimes can be circuit board faults as well and the fella I used reckons that as well as offering lifetime warranty on the plastic gears he recons the circuit boards....watch this space....
