Car Itchy
I'm getting a bit car itchy at the moment. I quite want some fresh metal but just cant decide what or what to sell.
On the list: Mk2 Foc RS EVO9 FQ360 Honda S2000 Integra Type R DC5 E46 M3 E92 M3 Golf R DSG S3 Porsche Cockster S Elise 111R or Exige S Either the WR1 and EVO would need to go or just one if the funds worked out. Decisions decisions........... |

Add brakes and Coilovers and you have a cracking car

After having a Subaru for so long I'm finding anything with an inline 4 quite dull in character.
the TFSi engine in the S3 and Golf R are quite tunable but the engine has no character and the TFSi is quite noisey/tappety due to its high pressure diesel like fuel delivery. I would not buy another 2.0 TFSI engined car (although the K1 will be getting a remap and exhaust mods in an attempt to give character). I need to increase the number of cylinders to get anywhere near an engine with character. So my next choice will be straight 6, V6 or even V8. So I would say ditch any of the above that a in line 4's. |

A friend of mine, and erstwhile Blobeye Wagon owner, races a DC2. It's quite a car!

I just don't know if I could go French - the R26.r maybe. But the Megan is a good car and they look well sorted round the ring. Probably a lotta car for the money.

I'd like the Integra, always taken a fancy to them and if using it mainly for track at least you could always be in the power band, much like the S2000.
E92 would probably be the one in the list, great all rounder I am sure. |

I've heard these are rubbish especially in silver
I have to say I was very impressed with a recent blast around the lanes, still trying to convince she who must be obeyed that this should be her next car |

Have you driven one? I knew I was in a heavier car than an impreza but I loved my m3 and you could really throw it around, the chassis was amazing

I have long wanted to try an Exige, though the price of them seemed to stabilize years ago and has never dropped since.

E92, CaymanS,
For the price of a tidy E92 you could build a very nice track prep'd E46, It wont excite on the road like the evo/scoob does but on track its a different story. I would also like to beat an v6 exige into submission, but worried I would break something (probably the gearbox)

The 46's have that whole subframe debacle to deal with. E92 is probably where it is at. Cayman S - does it have enough ponies to float the boat? There is very little not to like about the 92 (bar the price point). All BMs seem pretty heavy. I do have to own an M3 in my life time, got to be done.

Cayman S is pretty quick, and pin sharp handling, (dare I say better than a 911 if set up correctly), yeah any e46 has to have had its subframe sorted the 92's don't like the rear suspension being stiffened too much (similar
Issue can ensue I believe) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

E92 M3, Great Sound track, Proper weapon on and off track, build quality and comfort without being too lardy, reasonable running costs for a super saloon, and virtually depreciation proof.
Alternatively a V8 RS4 for similar reasons, but less involving, but does have 4 wheel drive, and the advant version makes it a very practical car as well. |

RS4 is on my list of potential new cars for purchase in the next 12-18 months.
But the low torque and carbon issue (which can lose 70hp) concern me. A great looking car but you have to drive hard to release the power. I'm also not sure I could jump in a car with '0' tuning potential. Yes you can Supercharge them but it costs £15000 so 10x what it cost to Supercharge a Mazda MX5 |

Problem is the older RS4's are now going for the same money if not more than the V8, and will have 100K miles on them. But again can only see them going up and up in value and a proven bullet proof engine capable of rocket ship miles. |

S4 B8.5 is the other one on the list due to the tuning potential. Although not many B8.5 have ADS and active diff options fitted.
I can turn ADS on with the laptop but without the Diff and suspension hardware it only changes the throttle map and shift points I just wish it has the RS4 wide body. |

Car Itchy
Played with a tuned B8 S4 the other day, it was very quick, made me want even more hp than I already have!, and it had grip in reserve

There are other options now for the throttle actuator on the e9x m3, you can now buy an exchange set with uprated gearset for a fraction of the price of a new set. Just for info
I'd not have an e92 without warranty, at least not a dct. Ran mine with no issues other than my cruise speed indicator broke, that was 1.2k for a new dash fitted under warranty

Ok so - we have moved from Japan to Germany.
Back in the day I had a E46 325ci Sport Convertible. I really liked the BMW the attention to detail and build quality were top notch. I have had my eye on E92s and E46s and pretty much every other sports car out there. E92s I would really want the Comp pack which are 28+ really so that would be selling all the other toys and going all in. Also a few weeks ago I saw a very light coloured blue E46 down the A3. It looked awesome - I followed it as much as I could in my pile of carp Sharan. The colour was individual but it's called Silverstone Blue. A little more research and these are limited edition only 50 made in the UK. I didnt think I would get one of these. However, last week one popped up on Piston Heads - private seller in Hampshire, so I pinged him and arranged to see it today. On the way there the Sharan has major brake issues. I think a caliper has seized or something. Had to limp it there about 30 mins late. The Sharan is stranded in Dorset now so will have to get it back at some point. The chap selling it was into cars but not that much. I dont think he was aware it was a silverstone edition as he called it Estoril blue which is the interior colour, estoril paint is much darker. So the car itself - SMG pretty much fully loaded TV HK stereo etc. The SMG Gearbox was rebuilt by BMW under waranty last year. Seller brought it from BMW in 2015 and it has selection issues. So the box is new. I must admit I never wanted an SMG or auto box. The thought of the power loss and clumsy shifting was a major turn off. But I thought what the heck, good enough for a CSL etc. So the car condition is pretty clean. The wing has been replaced at the front which he told me about with all BMW parts being used. Body was really clean. There is a slight 'dob' of rust on the inner rear arch but its a 11 year old car and I could not expect perfection. So took the gamble, agreed on the price, dragged the family to go pick it up (probably owe the Mrs dinner + some kind of shopping trip) and its sat on my drive now!! All with the aid of a bit of creative accounting. I think it's due a service and will need some rear tires soon. So the EVO I think is going to be moved on. Great car, brilliant track car but I can't keep em all. I think I may garage the WR1 for a while to keep the costs down and do a few track days in the 46. What a car the 46 is. I absolutely love the SMG. It's just so different from driving a manual, with the paddles an all. The straight 6 rasp of the S54 sounds epic. Very comfortable as well - I think it was even picking up countdown on Channel 4 at one point. I think I'm going to like the M3 - infact I love it already. Dark photos: What is an E46 M3 "Silverstone Edition"? A limited edition of 50 E46 M3 coupes with BMW Individual paint and interior trim were quietly produced for the UK market during late 2004. Available with either the six-speed manual or six-speed SMG II transmissions, they all received Silverstone metallic (425) paintwork paired to a Dark Estoril Blue extended Nappa leather interior, including the gearshift knob/boot and parking brake boot. The interior was additionally equipped with silver Aluminum Cube trim and black floor mats with Dark Estoril Blue leather edges. A generous amount of regular series options were also included, such as the Harmon/Kardon audio system, satellite navigation with TV function, 19-inch forged M Double Spoke alloy wheels, Park Distance Control and bi-Xenon headlights with washers. |
