Arch repair estimates
Hi guys ,
Just looking around at cars again and seem a classic but there are couple bubbles on the rear arch , what sort of prices are people quoted for a archs to be fixed? Not the whole arch where the bumper attaches it has very small amount of bubbles, not broken through etc just under the paint , Benji |

I recently had both rear arches cut out and replaced, the best I was quoted £400 a side

Have a look at Scotts thread where he had the bubble on his arch sorted. The risk is that you open a complete can of worms, if it really is just the outer arch you're ok but it could well be the inner arch as well.

I used BW Coachworks, mine was a major rebuild of inner and outer arches, sills and jacking points.
Scott used Ridgeway Auto Finishers. |

Just realised Ridgeway are based in what used to be the Gartons Honda, Daf and towards the end Mitsubishi workshops that my Dad worked in in the late 70s and early 80s before he moved on to Sussex Police Workshops.
Anyway, gone off topic, has he sold it? |

Yes he has, I had viewed over the weekend. I wanted to get an idea on repair to that arch before I committed but someone got in today , not to worry I'm in no rush and not 100% that I want another right at the mo.

One for you guys, does the classics wagons suffer with the usual scabs? Or as the piller is further back the water trap isn't as bad?

It's condensation on the inner arch and the seam on the strut tower that's the problem.
So yes they will get it too. |

Oh right just seems to be less of them like it,

It could be that the condensation doesn't build up as much due to better air flow round the boot, then again it could just be that there aren't as many wagons left and those that are are good ones. Whatever you look at try and get a light and a camera down behind the boot trim and into seam round the inner and outer wheel arch. Ideal tool would be one of those little flexible inspection cameras
