Angry Subaru badges on the boot

I was fiddling with something in the garage with the boot open, and managed to move off without shutting it, so I scraped a couple of the letters off against the garage door

So now that I have owned up to this horrendous error, and apart from the ridicule due, can anyone suggest the best way of getting the old foamy glue tape off the car, and best stuff to stick the S and U back on with?

WD40 is good for getting rid of the residue, just make sure you've removed all traces before re applying. 3M VHB tape is good for sticking them back on with, you'll just need a scalpel or fine craft knife to trim round the letters.

Heat gun and microfibre cloth......

WD40, GOO off, thinners, autosmart tardis.........

heat it up and either use a microfibre or soft plastic edge to remove.... small bit of compound or polish to finish it up....

New letters, they come with sticky

or halfords double sided number plate tape...will do it

Thanks chaps. The letters themselves were undamaged, so I have scraped off the old tape from the back and will put them back on, once I've cleaned up the mess that was left behind...

Sounds as though you got off quite lightly, which is nice. Tends to be little bits like that which do disproportionate damage!
