Default I'll get one eventually...

Hi all,

I'm currently driving a Ford Focuzzzzz 2.0 Ghia but am on the hunt for my first Subaru. It will most likely be a 2003-2006 WRX, depending on what is out there and price.

I went out for my first test drive today in a 2004 WRX at a localish dealers and from the moment I got there I wasn't happy. The place didn't feel right, the car had 2 tyres that needed replacing very soon, was due a cam belt change and had various scuffs, bubbling and damage that wasn't advertised.

As I made the trip I took it for a little test drive and the brakes weren't great but I decided when I planted my right foot that I would definitely keep looking and find the right one. So my hunt continues and I hope to be joining you all in Subaru ownership soon.

Thanks guys, I was very gutted to see that the car wasn't as expected today as I was all ready to px my old car and put down a deposit. I'd rather wait for the right one though. Just sent a message to a guy on ebay for a 2004 WRX, so we'll see how that pans out! Also have been looking at a 2006 2.5 WRX - I will be sending a message to see if I can view soon.

I'm not scared of travelling if it's for something I want and its worth the travel. I'm heading to Germany next weekend to get a tattoo! Although Perth is actually further.

The sti will probably be beyond my current budget, hence one of the reasons I am looking at WRX's. Having read up on various models I think the WRX (not sti) would more than meet my needs for now...

to SES Jason,

Good luck in the hunt, don't settle unless the car you find is the right one.

I can say from personal experience that it's worth finding the extra at the start to get an STI from the off! WRX's take a lot of money to get to STI level!

Jason!

Be sure to take your time and get the right car, don't let the excitement of getting your first Scoob cloud your judgement, I know it can be hard

If you are planning to mod the WRX, bare in mind what you want to achieve and weather saving up that bit extra for an Sti is worth it. You often find you get a lot more for your money if you can grab a good one from the start, especially when you bare in mind the uprated turbo and drive-line set up of the Sti.

Best of luck!
