Default Project Hilda - 1973 Hillman Imp

Its not a Subaru but I thought you may like my other project car known as "Hilda"!

The car started life as a 1973 Hillman Imp (875cc) with a beastly 43bhp!

The car has had a full rebuild done and is now running a 120-135bhp (rollers pending) 1.6 Saxo VTR engine.

As the last 6 years has been very extensive I thought I was just show the latest progress pics as its in the final stages now. Anyone interested in seeing the full build it can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...5342038&type=3

Hope you like!

We expect it to embarrass alot of modern "hot" hatches due to the power to weight ratio and the fact that the power graph is expected to not have any drop offs in power.

Its not a standard VTR lump, I have put a Newmans PH3 fast road cam, honda Fireblade bike carbs, racelands 4-2-1 manifold, custom Longlife exhaust, Megajolt ECU and an M Power style switch for the two maps

What's the story on the Fiat 126, looks similar to the one Chris Evans has just sold.

It is the one he just sold

One of the regular customers brought it in the workshop this week so the garage did some mini hatch photos.

Mini FB update!

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...5342038&type=3

Its been a tough few months with the car. Had some "issues" with a bodyshop and long and short the bodywork wasnt repaired which has caused damage to my freshly painted car!

Saw the picture of the wheel arch, looks like the rust hasn't been cut out, did it start to show through the paint? What a pain though!

I paid the first garage (not Southways) a lot of money to REPAIR not fill the arches and to repair the doors and they havent done any of that! I cant claim as it was cash in hand and i took to another garage to paint so didnt give them the chance to repair so im stuck being £1500 short plus another £5k to repair and repaint potentially. Looking like wider Golf Driver arches are the cheap way forward.

Love these little cars! Looks fantastic....
My dad had two of these over the years.
There's one near my house, ex racing one without engine and wheels, sitting on bricks looking sorry for it self,
I've asked the guy if he wants to sell it, but no joy... I will keep trying.
