Default 01 Bugeye wrx seat upgrades

Hi all,

Just wondering who has upgraded seats in their bugeye?? I have these std ones and they dont look too pretty or comfy to be honest.
are there any nice upgrades that are pretty just drop in without needing to modify anything?

Thanks

Do you have the airbag seats or the buckets?

Believe it or not, bar the v7 sti seats, those are very comfortable. Great for long journeys.

I had those in my bug when I got them, swapped them out for Blob WRX seats, as almost the same trim pattern. Then I got a full Hawk STi interior, including dash. While they look nice, not nice on the lower back and bum for long journeys.

I drive to Scotland twice a year, over 1000 mile round trip. Seats in order of comfortableness ( if that's a word )

1. Original Two Part ones ( the ones you have )
2. WRX versions Blob or Bug
3. V8+ STI

I'm told though the V7 STI versions top the lot though.

This...

There were two types of standard seats in the bugeye WRX. If you've got the seats with the headrest build into the back of the seat (no separate bit on top) then they're pretty much the best seat design out Subaru made.

Take a pic of what you have currently and show us

If you are very tall, classic seats do sit a bit lower in the 'newage' car you have, other than that the seats between model years are very interchangable, you would do well however to unbolt your setbelt socket from the two front seats, as the sockets / buckles can vary in shape.

I will say that the bug wrx / sti seats have deeper / firmer side bolsters than blob and hawk versions, I avoid those because I find them far harder to enter and exit the vehicle via

I had the v7 wrx seats in mine and they were good, I then put in the v7 sti seats which are same shape just different material and they are a lot better, the material is more grippy and just works nicer with the seat I think.

Am i right in thinking these are the V7 STI seats?
Annoyingly as my car is black i am not sure how this will look with blue seats in a black car. Need to see someone else thats done it.

No, they are the version 8 seats. Look good but not as nice to sit in as the V7.

The V7 seats look like this:

As Riidaa said, if you're a little on the tall side, early classic seats are a snug fit and hold you in, I binned my leather for these.

They're a bit slimmer than the later ones and sit a bit lower in the car

Steve PPP is right that they are from a blob. In my opinion they are MORE comfy than the earlier ones (bug seats have the diagonal shoulder stitching) he shows for the reason I already mentioned about bolsters. It's a matter of what you prefer.

If you are worried about blue in a black car, you could get the WRX versions rather than STi or else hang back and hunt for some WR1 interior to pop up but that may well cost you more to obtain.

I refuse to refer to them as 7 and 8 because version numbers don't officially apply to newage cars.

Hi Mike, sorry I can't sort a picture for you at the moment but there are a few on pistonheads to give you an idea, obviously the matching door cards help imo.
