Mitsubishi Evo VI GSR
After 10 years of Subaru's I fancied a change.
Sold the Impreza for a decent price and put a deposit down on an Evo VI that was still in Japan. After a loooooong wait I finally picked it up at the end of June. Plan was to keep it standard(ish), but wanted to do a few things to free up some power and make sure it's healthy. First I re-painted the calipers, fitted performance Friction pads, Motul brake fluid, and de-tango'd it, aswell as having Tein S Tech springs , Blitz panel filter and 3mm lash adjusters fitted when SVA Imports bought the car in. (Great company, highly recommend them). ICE was sorted with an Apline head unit, speakers and under-seat sub. Recently I have fitted a de-cat, Walbro fuel pump, AVCR, injectors cleaned and flowed (after one failed), Evo VIII actuator and dump valve, and a Ecutek re-map by Simon. Car drives superb and pulls like a train through all the gears. Next mods? Tyres and tints I think (removed the original tints as they'd gone smokey), and fit the Evo IX clutch and flywheel I've bought. |

Very Nice Gary, a nice set of 'Fat' Rota's will make that into a very desirable car (but totally understand if you want to keep it stock).

I was considering a set of Speedline Turini's, but the standard wheels have really grown on me.

Very nice, A White Evo6 is still on my bucket list of cars to try/own. And what I would now consider a very good buy as a future classic and good clean original ones will only ever appreciate in value.

I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing at first, but now it's mapped I love it.
A lot of the UK ones are suffering badly with rot, so want to keep on top of this one and keep it tidy. |

Had a few 'small' jobs to do recently.
I'd been having problems with fuel pumps becoming noisy, and an injector failing. After checking the fuel tank we noticed it had a lot of silt/dirt/rust in there, we ended up replacing the whole fuel system. (Tank, pump, filter and had the injectors cleaned and flowed). Turned out to be a bit of a pain, especially the 'easy' fuel filter, but after taking it to Brands yesterday on its first long(ish) run the problem seems to be ok. Have just ordered a new set of tyres as the Khumo's currently on the car don't inspire confidence, so have gone for a set of Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas |

Been a while since I updated this.
Haven't done much to the car as I've been buying a house, so the mods have been on hold. Had a service done at Jap Performance Parts, which resulted in the car feeling and driving so much smoother. Decent fluids make a big difference. I've had a couple of bits painted to tidy the car up (rocker cover and air duct) and had the windows tinted. I've just bought a Golf GTI to use as a daily hack, so the Evo can go into my new garage and used for something more exciting for the daily commute. I've got a Whiteline rear ARB fo fit with new drop links, and I'm taking the car to Elvington on the 15th for Simon's memorial event. Fingers crossed it'll survive the journey and event in one piece! |
