ok fitted today oil catch can and plumbing lol(powdercoating soon)

I thought i recognised CJ's.
Plumbing skills with the trade mark copper pipe.  In simple terms what does an oil catch can do, and how does it work? I must admit I haven't got a clue what its for, does my scoob have one?
