Default Future SES meets

As discussed at the meet yesterday, instead of meeting monthly, we are aiming to hold SES meets every 2 months.

By doing this it means that people can still attend thier regular club meets and SES meets without being out every single weekend which is obviously not always easy with family commitments. It also allows us more time to liaise properly with the meet that we will be joining up with for the day. We are also going to always aim for Sunday meets to try and involve more families.

As it stands at the moment, we are looking to arrange the following meets.

Kent - 23rd / 30th November - Venue TBC

Central - 28th December (xmas meal?) - Dunnings Mill East Grinstead

Surrey - 25th January - Venue TBC

Central - 22nd February - Dunnings Mill East Grinstead

West Sussex - 29th March - Venue TBC

Central - April 26th - Dunnings mill East Grinstead

East Sussex - 31st May - Venue TBC

Central - 29th June - Dunnings Mill, East Grinstead

We having just one sussex meet? Was thinking an East and West meet would be good to give people from Hastings way and Littlehampton way a chance to have a more local meet without having to travel to a central sussex location as its quite a distance between the to.

2 months is a long time between meets if your not part of, or intend going to, your local 'club' meet.
And 8 months until the East Sussex meet, oh well should give enough time for a venue to be found. I just hope the Kent group don't meet too far east or north.

when you said By monthly I thought you ment central not club meet !
Is it not better to tag on to an area meet at there home meet and rotate every other month and have a central meet every other meet .
As in next month kent , then a central , e sussex , central , surrey , central , w sussex and so on ?

that's a better idea except e.sussex meets may end up being a mini-SES meets arranged via SES.

why not make it last sunday every month down littlehampton way for w sussex , beachy on a sunday for e sussex , surrey would have to be second sunday as fairmile has other clubs using it on other sundays and that just leaves kent to sort

I think sussex SES members will be happy to rotate around the sussex region as we kinda kicked that off with the Beachy Head/Icklehsam/Piltdown thing before, and it could work well with a little effort.

There must be somewhere near Tunbridge Wells / Crowborough that can catch both Kent/Sussex members.

I know Kent rotate their meets, so as to sweep up as many people as possible.
So maybe the only 'FIXED' venue is East Grinstead, for the time being.

Some good ideas

A few places have come to mind in Kent not burried to far east. One of my favorites is the Woodman just outsde of Sevenoaks or even the Kentagon at Brands Hatch but will have to put it to the group as a lot live near the medway towns.

Sevenoaks area would be good, probably not much difference between that and Beachy Head for me. Also good access from Crawley/Surrey too...

I Went to the Kentagon years ago with the RSOC. Nice location but not that nice a place IIRC.
It may of changed over the years though.

Ah yes the RSOC meets a brands had a few there but a long time ago, don't think its changed much. Some nice pubs in that area I will have a look around and see what I can find but I think for the first one the Woodman is the best bet

The Woodman would be nice as it has a big car park and decent food, oh and beer

30th i think would be better as were having a local meet on the 21st now at Notcutts

The Woodman brings back memories from an earlier incarnation of Kent Scoobies, where Kim and Dom used to hold their meetings. Nice big car park!

The West Sussex meets are only just in West Sussex, so if you want a west sussex meet proper we ought to go further west than Crawley.

Yeah thats the thing - West Sussex goes a lot further west than we've been (certainly in recent times, can't comment on years gone by.....).

There seem to be a fair amount of people over Worthing/Littlehampton way so that might be an idea, but i don't recall seeing many members from other parts of West Sussex.... sort of Billinghursts/Pulburough/Petworth region.... But is there a lack of members because the clubs have never been there, so people from that area haven't heard of us/aren't bothered?

Probably a little late in the year to start arranging midweek meets (generally cold and bleeding wet from here on in )

Kent have a Friday night meet, which Martyn, Rich, Nick & I went to recently, so they are worth keeping an eye open for.

So, to answer the big question, do we do as suggested a regional meet followed next month by central meet?

I think it's quite a good idea in hindsight. So I will go down in the yes camp.

With regards the West Sussex meet, what kind of turn out do you think you would get actually from West Sussex?

Just a thought, as we have toyed with the idea of Hampshire being part of this set up, do we try again to include them? I am also a member of the Hampshire Jap Club, which I could potentially post on?

We have plenty of time to get this sorted.

I like the idea of Littlehampton way for Gonza and Cheeky - be nice to see them.

Can we stay away from each other for more than a month at a time? If the meets end up like last Sunday's, then probably no!

If we start involving other make car clubs, then we are not SES, in my view.

It would be nice, however, to invite hampshire to join us if we are "over that way".

I have joined Hampshire Subaru this afternoon (yet another site to trawl )

I have got in touch with one of the mods by PM (scooby-tc) who is a member over on Surrey too.

I have asked the question about (a) Them becoming past of what we are doing (b) permission to plaster some bits on their site. I am awaiting a reply.
