Default Looking to sort a gathering for East Sussex area anyone interested ?

Have been on here for a little while now and noticed there has been a quiet patch for local gatherings! Just wondered if anyone else is up for a meet ? If we can get at least a small gathering, can then decide where to meet as I know were all spread around a fair bit ! I am based in Eastbourne and know there is a fair few scoobs around, enough for a decent convoy if we managed to all get together anyway's but know most aren't active members so anyone near by or even in the county and are up for a low key meet to have a chinwag or even for some lunch time grub put your name down and your location !

Most of the local meets are posted in here

Leeds castle and nurburgring trip are the next meets I think?

There's a good few round Eastbourne now, so sorting a convoy to the SES meets should be no problem though.......

Just think try a few SES meets before setting up more?

Definitely

We hold a pub meet every month unless its a busy month with events/shows etc. Its far better to sort a convoy to a proper SES meet and make it a big one rather than having loads of little meets....

Just keep an eye on the Meets & Events section

If the weather is nice you won't want to go anywhere near camber.
If you push it out to 16th and go to Littlestone (other side of dungeness point) they are having a lifeboat and emergency services day with a few car clubs. They are also having the 2 lancasters do a flypast as there is a family link with the BBMF.

If you get in touch with the lifeboat people they may even arrange a club stand.

Beach is sandy there too and tide goes out bloody miles.
We went there a few weeks ago and spoke with them.
I was going to arrange something but it clashes with my holiday.

Thanks for the heads up I might just do that and try to get a club stand sorted for the 16th if there is enough interest maybe pin this to the events section or start a new thread, what do u think?

Not sure where you have been, but we had a meeting on the 19th so how you can say that having a meeting is over due ??

I proposed a meeting just up the road from Eastbourne at The Plough The Dicker on 13th June and did not get any response from owners in just down the road.

I am currently trying to get a meet sorted at another very popular venue we have used before, for the August meeting, which is likely to be on the 16th.

Hi Itcharoo,

Without sounding like too much of an arse we do run regular meets so maybe it would be good for you to come along to one of those rather than try and setup something yourself.

As BigE has said, we had a good meet last weekend about half an hours drive from Eastbourne and several new members came along Just keep an eye on the Meets/Events section as they'll be another meet in August.

I'm sensing a little hostility from this but forgive me, I could be wrong ?! What I was trying to say is that even though there has been a few events, one being cancelled due to no interest, I have had to venture further afield to find some meets with good attendance from local bods. I feel along with others that its great you arrange monthly events for us, but I guess if there Is only one event per month, many cannot make events for many reasons that life throws up. So just getting more dates and meet and greets would be better for choice and help those who cannot make the bigger ones you guys make, and give them several options to choose within the month.

I wasn't trying to step on anyone's toes here, I was trying purely to muster some interest for an additional low key meet and greet. So sorry if my action of trying to make this meet has ruffled someone's feathers

While new to this forum I'm just an enthusiastic person who likes to help out others, and meet those who have similar interests as me especially in Subaru's. As many I have met in the past have fantastic ideas and tips and pretty much always love their cars !

Sorry but I disagree.
Small off-shoot meets will just dilute the monthly meets.

We try to stick to monthly.

Sometimes a bigger event may take priority over the monthly for several reasons.
  • It falls at the same time or within 1 week of a monthly.
  • Attendance will be low at the monthly because of the above.
  • Attendance wiil be low at the event due to the monthly.
If you look back through the calendar/events page/events photos you will see we have had 1 or more gatherings per month (be it a meet or event) for all of 2013 & 2014.

Personally I have just cut back on attendace in the last few weeks as it has been busy time during April/May/June.

The next meet will be at 'The Anchor', Barcombe Mill (10 mins from Ringmer/Lewes), 20 mins from Eastbourne) : http://www.anchorinnandboating.co.uk/
  • Good food
  • Probably one of the nicest pub venue's in the area
  • Ice cream kiosk
  • Boating on the river
Big "E" is arranging this, I beleive for 16th August.
This date has been chosen due to the following week being August Bank Holiday. The Bank holiday is avoided as this venue will too busy. SES members are then free to do there own/family thing on the Public Holiday, without the worry of missing an event/meet.

Im going to say I can understand Itcharoo to a degree.

Of course I agree with trying to get everyone to full on official SES stuff cuz its grrrrrrrrreat , but its rediculous to say people shouldn't try and network/meet up with people in their pocket geographic area of SES.

That being said looking good to meet August 16 for me.

But I can understand to encourage dialogue/networking/meetups/odd beer or burger at other times in our local area or whatever can suit if we are unable to make the once a month pub meet lol.
