Default Cars going in for a recall on friday

This one for rotting lower arms:

If they find that the arms need replacing, will they pay for the lot? I assume bushes will all be replaced for free as well?

They're giving me a courtesy car. It'd better be a BRZ!!

I believe that if the arms fail the spike impact test, then they replace them and the associated bushes completely free of charge.

If the arms pass the test, then they treat them to prevent further corrosion with waxoil or equivalent. Glad you got it booked in though, shows that despite Subaru trying to contact every affected owner, some cars got missed.....

Get out there with some concentrated saline solution the night before...

I fear your courtesy car may disappoint!

If that's the case then it'll be just right for taking on track...

The SPIKE impact test? IS that as violent as it sounds?!!?! Waxoil eh?! They'd better not get it on my nice new drop links.

Its going into Turners Hill Subaru so i think i'll have to go to Goodwood for a bit of track action. I don't see why they wouldn't give you something half decent to be honest. Y'know? Try to get a bit of future custom?

lol

It is basically a small spike that rams into the suspension arm at a set force from what i've heard (i haven't had it done as the saloon has alloy arms rather than steel). If it penetrates the arm, it fails the test and they replace.

My courtesy car when the FSTi went in for warranty work was a Chevrolet Lacetti. Utter turd of a car!

What was the outcome of this - did the arms pass the test or did you get new ones?

They passed mate. I was looking forward to getting new ones I'm getting a little knock from both sides now though and worried they've not tightened something properly. Could you do me a favour if you've got 5 mins? Look at my other thread about a missing pipe and tell me where yours goes
