Default Zello - comms for meets

mods feel free to move this if in wrong area

just wondered if you guys have heard of or use zello ?

coming from a lr background and response work we often had large meets and cb would used to all keep in touch etc which was great for offroading as all closish to each other

obviously cb has its limitations and wouldn't have a place in a scoob but a modern version exists for smartphones or computers etc - Zello - we use it on meets and its used by the response networks as well at times

basically it will allow groups of people to talk to each other over any range and usually can be used via Bluetooth kits in cars etc so all remains safe and legal - its a great little app for when travelling in groups and channels can be set up very quickly and easily and even people not on the meet could be allowed to join the conversation etc just to listen or add input etc

its defo useful and fun - nice thing is it just runs in the background on I phone etc so full normal use of the fone can be had but and zello comms still come thru the cars speakers via Bluetooth when not in a call etc - easy to set up channels then just give out the details on a thread or to who you like - can also password protect the channel if required although weve never had to do that as just made up a new channel usually for new meets

Guessing it uses the data network though Steve and with roaming charges the way they are it would be cheaper to make a normal call, nice idea though (providing you have network coverage)
