Clay mitt!
Got myself one of these today.. seemed very cheap compared to one or two others and I often drop claybars by accident
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_255233 Might have to give it a test drive at the weekend, as the scoob is well overdue a good deep clean and polish.

Well gave it a go today. I had washed it last week so just gave a quick rinse with the pressure washer then used some megs nzxt + a bit of snow foam in a bucket + some dodo juice clay lube for fun, it worked well! And fast, I had to go back over 1 or 2 bits to get 1 or 2 spots that I missed but it left a glass like finish, it took a similar amount of elbow grease but obviously much bigger surface area your working with so a lot quicker to complete.
To give an idea I started at 2pm and managed to get it finished washed dried + polished and waxed by 6.30! (Including re-cleaning the wheels (as I blasted up the road in the morning ) Bargin for 12.99 in my mind.

did yuo need any lube like with a clay bar or water or do you just use it dry after you washed the car ?

I always use a lube - detailing spray. Find with just water the clay bar sticks

And u can't use them dry - u will cause holograms and u wudnt actually be able to move the bar

You would never dry clay anything, it wouldn't work. Watch this vid for a quick guide to the process. then imagine using something the size of a mitt to achieve the same results.

Water and wash/rinse the mitt, clean car first ofc, I really like it, saved a heap of time and couldn't see any marring.

well, I bought a mitt today and clayed and waxed the car.
I have had some paintwork refreshed since I last clayed the car. I think for a car thats been clayed before, the mitt is definitely better than the clay bar. If the car has never been clayed before or if you have any new paint, then I think the bar is better than the mitt for the first claying session. after that the mitt should be fine. |
