Brilliant. Used to love Andy Rouse, always watched it on a Saturday on Grandstand. Went to the Formula 3000 at Brands two or three times around this era, so got to see him live as the BTCC was on as well. I was only about 8-11 years old. Got some pictures some where, will dig them out one day.....

When I was not much older than 11 I used to cycle around Gloucestershire to watch Andy Rouse jalopy (grasstrack) racing. He had a mini special and was just about unbeatable

Great Watch, Enjoyed that. Although Soper stood no chance with the extra power Rouse had down the straight.

Rouse was my first and only Motorsport hero. Liked plenty since but not like Rouse. I was only a kid though! You posted some pictures up in another thread last year didn't you?

You could be right, but I'm afraid I can't remember.
I got to know Andy's brother Paul nearly 40 years ago through a mutual friend. The three of us shared a disco (as it was back then!) to celebrate our 21st birthdays (except Paul was 22)

We kept in touch for a couple of years but then I moved away. I did start chatting to Andy at Silverstone one time but we were interrupted by Brian Jones the commentator, who took him over.
Brian Jones went to the same school as me. Small world, eh?
