If I remember rightly when the P1 was launched one of the things that was not quite right was the spring rates where too soft compared to the Jap Sti's (they set them soft to deal with the UK roads) making the P1 tend to understeer abit compared to the jap V5/6 sti's (I think I read this originally in an autocar mag review while the P1 was on sale.)
I'm no expert on this mind, the Eibach Prodrive spring kit I had on my classic seemed to work great with new shocks, I'm sure we have had this conversation before! (they where red not blue, 30mm drop from standard over oe.) did you try a set of these already on the car before Scot? Not saying prodrive got it wrong! but there might be a "better" fast road option than prodrives original spring rates.

I've been looking at suspension and springs for the legacy and have decided to try the 'Lotus' school of thought where you run softer springs but stiffer dampers, essentially this is what the Spec B runs as std.

At the moment I am running the STi lowered, which are as near as damn it the STi 4 Spec. The eibachs that came with the Prodrive Bilstein Upgrade were Blue with the following Eibach P/N's : Front 20400550410 Rear 2230055060 There used to be 2 different sets of Eibach springs available from Eibach. IIRC the Pro-Kit (Black) and the Sportline Kit (Red). One sat slightly lower then the other. It may of been the case, as knowing how Prodrive/Subaru can operate some times, that Eibach were asked to stop supplying the lowered (Red) kit direct to the public, as it was too close to or was indeed to Prodrives requirements. |
