Default Winter wheel and tyre options?

Hi all

My Classic MY99 Turbo is currently sitting on a horrible mix of budget rubber and it's really compromising the car.

I figure since it's that time of year it's the perfect time for winter tyres. Then in the spring I would grab a spare set of wheels with summer tyres.

Does the current 16" wheel (with 185/50-16 tyres) limit my options for decent winter rubber? Should I try to grab some 17" wheels? (Then I'd want 215/40-17 or 205/45-17 tyres I think?)

Any recommendations for winter tyres for the Impreza? Black circles and Tyre Shopper have very few options for winter tyres in the above sizes.

Thanks

http://www.nokiantyres.com/tyres get a good rating, temperature is not cool enough yet to warrant using winter tyres just yet

thanks for the reply. Not heard of them before will give them a look. Although at a quick glance it looks like I might struggle to find a size to suit.

I won't put them on until temp drops a fair bit more, just planning ahead.
