overboost issue
Guys, having this slight over boost issue.
Can see its going up to 1.3bar and hit fuel cut twice now so not spanking it around, car is the old 94 wrx. MODS running stock 3 port. 3 inch Grd System, Td05 pump, Green Cotton panel filter Arc I/C stock air box, stock dump valve. with the z4 car hits 1bar then tails back to .9 but in 5th under load will creep up. now on chipped uk map car is meant to boost to 1.1 but hiting 1.3bar and fuel cutting any ideas what can i do. really want the stock 3port to work, any suggestions please |

Is the restrictor pill still in the bottom hose of the 3 port or has it had samco hoses fitted and the restrictor thrown in the bin.
The other normal one is no hose at all on the bottom port when sn induction kit is fitted. |

What chip is it.
Does it overboost all the time. What does it do if put your foot to the floor in 4th from around 3, 000 rpm and just let it pull through the revs. |

Scott,
Took the car out of town this afternoon, loaded it up in 4th, from 3k foot to the floor. The boost went up as normal up to 1.3bar then tailed of to 1.2, still to high. As Fuel cut is 1.3. it drove fine, no coughs, fuel cut or misfire during that test. it is over boosting every time to this 1.2/3bar but only hitting fuel cut in higher gears not 1st/2nd . Chip is a major sarcism one, (so i was told of the owner) |

Here's a diagram to explain, the hose can sit there doing nothing as long as the pill is still inside, or your using a different way to control your boost example a greedy profic b or Avcr etc? http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...st_Control.jpg |

The boost control on the Pre96 cars is quite good and robust and from the sounds of it is more a boost spike issue then a target issue. It may have too much boost duty but it may be that your actuator is slightly too tight. The restrictor pill is there to prevent boost spikes, and if it's still there then that's not the problem. I would check the actuator pre-tension as a previous owner may of put a few extra turns on it to get it to hold a little more boost. |

Fuel cut is not set to 1.3, but can be anywhere between 1.2 and 1.3
The MAP sensor at the top of it's range is quite un-linear therefore the fuel-cut level is not very reliable and can vary from car to car. Hence why I only mapped to 1.11bar (max) |

Scott i tighten the actuator to show half the pin when resting above, this was to cure a lazyness i was having, this cured it, but could be the reason of over boost, so do you think i should wind it open a turn and try again??

yes you should see or feel it in the pipe, if your getting the right boost the pill is most likely in there as with out this you will get crazy boost
