Can anybody recommend a good and safe clean up package for my computer,Dell Inspiron, which is about 4 years old.Seems to take for ever to start up and generally runs a bit slow.Thanks.

you can always goto the run box and type msconfig. This will bring up a few tabs.Under service tab it will show whats booting up at the start. You can go through the list and see if there's anything you recognize that's perhaps slowing it down.

Tuneup utilites is a good package for speeding things up.

Download something called ccleaner.

Run that, it will clear all your temp files etc, good thing is you can select what to keep. (Cookies, Downloads etc)

Also has a registry fix in it. Run that as well. Don't worry about backing up the registry. I've ran this on literally thousands of laptops and never had this cause any issue.
It just removes any old registry entries that are corrupt or not needed.

Also has a "Start Up" section. Have a look and see what is running there. Any programs that run on start up that you never use, remove them.

Should make it all run a bit quicker.
