Default DTM R2 2013 – Brands Hatch

Thought I'd chuck these up here, as I'm sure there must be some DTM fans on here.

The DTM championship visited the UK a couple of weekends back and, having missed it for the last few years, I managed to pop down to Brands Hatch for it this time round.

Took a few pictures on the day, my faves can be seen below…

Unlike the BTCC and other Touring Car championships, these are nothing like their road going equivalents. All cars are space framed, V8 powered, rear wheel drive and putting out nearly 500 BHP…

…and all sporting some very serious aero.

Check out the driver: he’s almost sitting in the back seat!

Bling Merc!

Just before the main DTM race kicked off a few German classics took to the track for demonstration runs…

…as did Jenson Button who did a couple of (very sedate) laps.

Brit driver Gary Paffett celebrates finishing in third…

…his joy was short lived as he received a penalty and was dropped to sixth.

And a few pictures from the supporting races; the day kicked off with some Formula 3…

…and the DTM was followed by some Formula 4 racing (which was pretty good)…

…and the Lotus Elise cup (which was a lot duller than I was expecting).

And that’s the lot!

Like the pics. DTM is well worth the ticket price. A really good three days.

And don't forget that NASCAR are at Brands Hatch for the first time this year on 8th 9th June. This is being run as an American family day out so plenty for all to enjoy. NASCAR are looking to develop the Euro Touring series.

Also date for your diary Aston Martin centenary meeting 6th 7th July.

All pictures taken using a Canon EOS500D with a 55-250mm lens. Bit outranged at Brands, but managed to find a few OK spots!

I would highly recommend it. The DTM cars are seriously quick bits of kit. I didn't mention it in my original post but they sound incredible as well, my ears were ringing by the end of the race!

Have to be honest and say I was a little disappointed with the supporting races. The Formula 3 race was good, but the post DTM races weren't so interesting. Last time I saw the DTM at Brands (which was a few years ago now), the European Sidecar Championship were supporting: they looked bonkers going round Brands!

Still, the DTM race alone was well worth the price of admission!

Seriously torn what to go to this Sunday. Its the Bromley Pagent of Motoring (about 5 minutes walk from the girlfriends house!), the American Speedfest at Brands, plus a Surrey Scoobies meet as well.

There are two things to get to on Saturday as well!
