Travel Arrangements for 2013 RING TRIP.

Due to reasons beyond my control !!

I have had to make the following decision.

Outward journey

24/05/2013 @ 07.36

Return Journey

28/05/2013 @ 17.50.

I have reserved space for 9 vehicles on both of these trains at a cost of £102 (return) for each vehicle.

I have done this because space is at a premium, being Bank Holiday weekend and some trains and ferries have already sold out.

The 07.36 train is the only train available that can accommodate us all traveling together at this time of day.

Please can you all except Nick & Sian let me have your surnames and reg numbers to pass on to Euro Tunnel as soon as possible

The only way I could guarantee us traveling together was to provisionally book this,

payment has to be made by me on Monday to secure,

A.. a place on the train

and

B.. the price of £102 per vehicle.

Seems they are making the most of that weekend, just looked up dates in July when i might be able to get out there and its £70

I only really plan to go on one day do a few laps then probably spend Sunday on a trip along the river stopping at a couple of towns.

The main group and Silversurfer are all on the train.

Hongkongfooi has decided to get a ferry that departs at the same time as the train. So he will be at least 45 mins behind us so when we stop for breakfast they can catch up with us then.

If we can be bothered to wait that long

Passport and documentation
All passengers (including any pets that are travelling with you) will need a valid passport or ID card. A driving licence is not a valid document for travelling abroad. Please ensure you have your passport or ID card within easy reach and out of its wallet before approaching border controls.

In-car breathalysers
On 1 July 2012, a new legislation came into force in France. All drivers of a motorised land vehicle, excluding mopeds, must possess a digital breathalyser or an unused (and immediately available) breathalyser kit which conforms to NF standards. This rule equally applies to vehicles registered outside France. Only vehicles fitted with Breathalyser Interlocks are excluded.

The enforcement of the law and the implementation of a fine for non-compliance have been postponed until further notice. However, as a precautionary measure, we recommend that drivers still carry in-car breathalysers.

Be fully prepared. Call into the AA travelshop, in our Folkestone Passenger Terminal Building, for all compulsory or recommended car equipment required for driving abroad.

Strange that it's so expensive to go on the ferry on that weekend. The tunnel is good though, but not great for anything that sits too low. James would be well fooked!

It's mainly due to the bank holiday, worth that bit extra to not have to take an extra days holiday!

I have informed Euro Tunnel that we have some low slung cars and have been told that we will be on single deck compartment which cater for such things..

I know what you mean. The long queueing for a fry-up is all part of the early morning journey out there. We'd still be on the boat if it wasn't so sodding expensive this year for us.

But hey ho, its good to do something a little different now and then. Coming back will be good, as the ferry always seems to drag on the way home!
