Default Classic STI Owner

Hello there, I was directed to this forum by myblackwrx from ScoobyNet.

I actually live in France but I've left my Subaru in Brighton, do I qualify still? When I was last in the UK I sold my TDi Golf and took it in as a trade in thinking I'd flip it quick and make some extra € to get drunk with... Then I drove it

Honestly I've never been a fan of the Impreza until now. It just made me smile when I drove it so I kept it, but left it in the UK tucked up nice and warm.

I'll be back in the UK in May, then plan is to sell my ****roen and bring the Subaru back to France with me for a play car (I've also got a French registered VW Caddy Kombi to keep the Gendarm off my back)

Also in my garage is a 1965 Hill Man Imp with a 12a Rotary engine that's supercharged with Dellorto carbs. Pretty mental and only comes out to play on very special occasions, think I've done about 200 miles in it ever.

A Few annoying issues with the Subaru I'd like sorting before bringing it here, it's over fuelling, black soot on the bumper, pops and bangs (does sound cool though) and sometimes stalls when pulling up. It has some cheap FPR fitted (not sure if needed) which I'm guessing is the issue.

Someone replaced one of the vents in the bonnet with a scoop so this needs to come off, screwed the numberplate into the fog light cover and painted over the rear lights. I'll be sourcing the bits to tidy it up, fit a new stereo and give the interior a good scrubbing.

I need someone to recommend a garage in/around the Brighton area where I can get the fuelling looked at and serviced at the same time as I've no idea on the history.

Enough typing. Picture time

Looks nice from the outside, it's a 1996 Version 2 with later bumper/lights fitted (so I've been told)

Cheapo eBay special filter and for

Slightly blurry engine shot

Needs a bit of a tidy up, battery relocating, some new caps and a bit of paint.

The offensive scoop

Fake carbon wrap

Mirrors did have fake carbon wrap on them too but I pulled that off. Mirrors now need re painting or replacing as the glue damaged the paint

Poor lights

Not a fan of the dials either... the oil pressure one beeps really loud when there is no pressure, very annoying when you put the keys in the ignition to start it up.

Don't like these dials either

Inside was a mess, pic taken before I cleaned it. Stereo was removed in a hurry. More fake carbon wrap and a broken AFR gauge

A few little jobs to do to transform it into something I can be proud of.

Pics of the other cars:

The Daily hack Caddy

And you'll have to be really nice to see the Hillman, it's very sexy in a NSFW way as it'll have you doing a sex wee all over your MAC.

Just noticed this thread was awaiting moderation (hence why only Mods could see it). Didn't realise at first, everyone can see it now!

Thanks for the welcome guys

Yeah, we've got lots of snow here, makes me wish I sorted the Subaru and had it here with me! It's coming over once it's sorted.

Can someone recommend a good local isn garage for me to make friends with?

That's how I'd describe it but I didn't want to offend

The old man has pushed it out the garage and given it a wash for me

Not long now 'till I'm back on UK soil and can drive it again.

Yup, May 14th is the official date, I'm leaving St Johann tomorrow, spending the weekend in Lake Garda, then moving back into my apartment in Chamonix for a few week... busy life at the moment. I'm trying to get back a few days earlier but the 14th is what's been agreed on.
