Ring Insurance
Have just got of the phone to gary and asked the question peeps
If your insured with kieth micheal with a highways policy then its £60.00 with a £2000.00 excess Starts at midnight to midnight . This will cover every thing but you pick a bill up for up to £2000.00 Normal track ins is £1500.00 excess but you sign your life away so no personal claims hence the £500.. excess differents

Re: Ring Insurance
There are surely better deals than that around.
Just Google track day insurance.

Re: Ring Insurance
I have spoken to a chap that specialises in track day insurance,
and regularly covers trips to "The Ring" He has said to me to get in contact with him, when I was able to give, details of : 1. Names 2. Reg numbers 3. Car values Please PM me with your details and I will contact him, on behalf of anyone that wants insurance. Obviously the rate will go down if we can get a group purchase.

Re: Ring Insurance
the chances of having an off at the ring are high(unless your driving like miss daisey)
two of my freinds had incidents with other drivers so yoiu cant say "well i will drive carefully" as one of the guys was doing 40mph at the time and got mullered into the wall by an M 3 EVO! I really wouldnt ever take a car on track without good insurance, but £2000 exess damb!!!!!

That's my biggest fear, some other donut going for a hot one and taking me out! I know for sure though he would be eating a drop of fist for it! |

Re: Ring Insurance
also i think you.ll find,if your hit by another car you have to claim on YOUR insurance!!!!
which is why you get soooooooo many people on there with no track insurance at all!

Shocking isn't it. Glad we are going quite early in the "Season" then. Hopefully not too rammed.

Re: Ring Insurance
If you're driving during Touristenfahrten you need a minimum of 3rd party cover. I'm sure you're all aware that if you drop fluids or cause an accident you are liabile for all injuries and damage to other cars. It's only a trackday when the Nordschleife is privately hired.

When things go wrong on the Nordschleife, they can go very wrong. People thinking they're fine as they assume they have cover but they are not always correct and it's never safe to assume you're fine. Sometimes an insurance company pays out but then sets out to recover their loses from you personally, it's called subrogation. It's come up a lot with regards to claims on the Nurburging Nordschleife during Touristenfahrten. Potentially you could lose everything if the claim is big enough i.e. disable a motorcyclist/ take out a Veyron etc. I hope I haven't put you off |

My office is 400 metres from the Nordschleife entrance, you're welcome to pop in for a brew (bring a big box of PG Tips, I'm fed up with German tea) although I will warn you now I'll probably try and sell you car hire/evening trackwalk

Re: Ring Insurance
Just a quick bump after the events of Sunday. I said when things go wrong they go very wrong, now it happened to someone I know quite well.
A guy I know had a BIG accident on Sunday caused by a fault on his car (only 6 months old, probably manufacturing fault). 100+mph spin into the metal barriers, bikers went down on his fluid, track damaged and closed, people taken by ambulance to hospital. Police assigned blame to him so is liable for everything. Make sure you have appropriate insurance, not just for your car but medical too as their bills were very expensive!! |

Re: Ring Insurance
So what's the consensus of opinion regarding this infernal insurance problem?
A google shopping search for "3rd party nordschleife insurance" yields no results. What's a UK based person to do? I know I'm not due to go out with you lot, but I am renewing my insurance atm and was thinking about this issue again. I know Keith Michaels were happy to take £60/day from me when I was insured through them (with 'highway', so I'm guessing the extended liability was theirs too). Does anybody know if they will offer 3rd party nords cover if not insured through them? Also, can anybody point me to a company who doesn't try to exclude the nordschleife? |

Was this cover for a trackday or TF? There's a big difference, i.e. the important 3rd party part. |

Not entirely sure if the extended cover was definitely offered through Highway - was just assuming as if it was offered by a different company wouldn't that mean you were insured 3rd party by both? One who would seek to claim it back (Highway in this instance) and the new one? Maybe they just take my money and gamble on me not crashing..... |

If I wasn't insured and bent my car, well I'd have to swallow that but at least it's owned outright. It's the 3rd party part that is the issue. A mate of mine had a big accident a couple of weeks ago resulting in 2 bikers crashing into the armco on his oil, therefore he's liable for their injuries and damages (on top of track damage and circuit closure). |
