Default low idle normal??

Engine once warm ticks over between 400-500 revs is this normal? i can remember my classic tickin over on around 900, never really botherd me till today whilst i was looking for my coolent leak!! still!, seemed to struggle keeping revs up almost wanted to die but i find if i put lights or heating on she will climb to sweet running? strange!

My bug Sti was the same always about 500rpm
