Lazadude's Hawk WRX Project
Thought I'd post this up on here, as its on Surrey too
Right, So started of as I was going to get a CS400, but saw sense and bought a late 2007 standard WRX in 2010 with 20k miles on it as my first scoob. Picture of her the day she arrived: and In the snow: Then I decided to swap the spoiler for a high level one, and got a Full decat 3 inch Japspeed exhaust system too. This was then open source remapped, and the next present was some 18" inovite tarmac's, (with thanks to Shaun on here  ). This ended up looking like: After some TLC by James GRD, fitted some Tein springs to the standard shocks to stop it sitting on stilts, and this made it sit/ride a lot nicer. Also got a Whiteline Anti Lift Kit, Rear Rollbar and Droplinks fitted and then one of James' (:bestpal great fast road geo's. This completely transformed the car. After all this, was looking like: --- Some more time passes ---- And then Fail struck. During some spirited driving, and some driver error , I did a little bit of off roading (That's what the cars are for right!?) and bush raiding on the roads outside of Pod. :censored: As you can see the front subframe was all forced back, and she was leaking vital fluids.. This was recovered back to GRD's Compound (Huge thanks again to GRD for looking at the damage and the temporary storage). I said goodbye to her as the good Dr-Frank-In-Stew, took her away. I then ran away to drive to Mongolia, the long way round. When I got back, I saved up and bought GuyB's :bestpal: WRX of him, :thumb:. However due to some unforeseen and extenuating circumstances, I had to sell her after only owning and caring for her for a couple months. ;( The plus side was that I was able to get the Hawk back, after Stew had repaired it, (Top Man, and Thanks for the understanding shown) and did a really good job. Which brings me to today, where I fitted a Kenwood head unit with built in Garmin sat nag, Ipod and TV tuner. After taking the majority of the interior plastic out to route various cables, It was looking like this: Anyone know what the "Denso" metal box thing there is? Guessing ECU? But this then allowed me to wire a USB port onto the side of the passenger foot well: where the female links to the head unit, and the male cable currently there leads into the center console for: Hidden Ipod, controllable by the head unit! At the same time, I fitted the TMIC water spray kit switches: And wired the GPS receiver into the Dash, coming out of the Clock enclosure, which when I find some, will be where I will have my gauges, hiding it further. And once all wired in and confirmed working, everything was secured, and tidied, resulting in: And that's where we are now. TD05-16G, STI TMIC, Antilift Kit, ARB's and bits ready to install, remap again, and should be sorted. |

Cars been with James at GRDsince the weekend to get my collection of bits fitted and the EcuTek mapping sorted.
Car was at SRR today for a map by Simon. Simon works magic: Then Runs on Dyno: And then we get the below figures: Now have Anti Lagg, (Freaking extreme and awesome!) A shed ton more power, with instant spool. 1 bar at 2700 rpm! Flat Foot shifting, Launch Control, and loads of other RaceRom Drive by wire goodies! Mahoosive mahoosive Thanks to James GRD for the work on the car, top standard as always, and a giant fountain of knowledge.* And thanks to Simon for the Map and Charlie at SRR -- Adam Greensmith |

yeah, it feels so much quicker and more eager then before. Always spooled up too which is what I wanted, making it a very capable and nice daily drive. |

That's good to hear, I'm considering going exactly the same route myself with my hawk WRX... Was thinking of the VF43 turbo though instead of the TD05. BTW did you sports cat/decat the downpipe? That's in my list of 'things required' too...

..not terribly standard any more is it?
Simon put some of the racerom features on mine - I haven't dared try the launch control yet! Auto blip is great though... Your list is pretty similar to my 'things required' list, although I've skimped on the geometry/handling side of things... Seeing the dyno graph is interesting - you hold torque and power for longer, my remapped TD04 pretty much peaks then drops of in both cases. Guess the turbo upgrade makes all the difference. J.

Yeah, When do you reach 1 bar with your TD04?
Flat foot shifting takes some getting used too lol, And I hadn't noticed the amount of stuff I've done to the car until I wrote that list and thought about it. Especially how much I've spent on it, Suppose that's what happens when you do it in little bits at a time. |

When power isn't enough... After a quick configuration change (GRD Tumbler Delete).. Car went back to SRR and Simon JGM for Tweaking.
All I can say is wow. Figures (blue is before, green is after) Hello 400 club |

Tumbler deletes is a good mod on a wrx and at the cost of a less than a tenner for the bits and about 3hrs work it's all but a freeby bar the remapp

Well, Germany Destroyed the car,
Pistonring gone and scored the cylinder, so will need to have it re-bored and oversize pistons, or use a new bottom end. On Tuesday on way home, Front diff and gearbox decided it didn't want to live any more and gave up on life. Added to what Daz found when the car was in pieces, need a new set of silicone and may as well go FMIC due to the boost leaking TMIC. So cars now on Axle stands and cover arriving in the post to hibernate it until the majority of the car can be replaced. Least the Ring trip was great to finish it off on! |

Wonder if the crunch didn't help with the early demise of the box with the help of the extra power on top. **** luck, that's for sure
