engine oil 5w40 or 10w60?
Well I have been using a 10/60 for long time as recommended by Bob Rawle, but wonder about changinf to a 5/40. Any thoughts?
Many thanks for any input. :SUBARMAN:

I would say 10/40 or 10/50. Better still give Alyn a call he will tell you everything you want to know, and be able to supply what you decide on at a very competitive price.

not sure of your spec of car but 5w oil isn't for a classic IMO.......

I'm onto 15w 50 at the moment. Does the trick for me

I thought 5w just meant the oil was thinner cold than 10w and therefore easier on the engine on cold start, especialy in winter |

I'm 10/50 but will be going 10/60 at my next change. Doesn't really get cold enough in the UK to warrant 5.

10w60 is really quite a thick oil, unless your tracking /thrashing the $h1T out of your car, 10w50 or 15w50 for summers etc.(classic/newage sti - some mods)
I would use 10w60 on a built (400+ bhp engine)

Used Motul 300v comp 15W50 for a long time and had no oil issues and really wouldnt run anything else in a subaru engine.

Although the 10W60 millers a couple of customers use also seems good, having monitored oil temp and pressure on the ecu on track.
