One Marshall was paralysed and another killed during races last year.... Cars didnt slow at first.... Would you risk your life ?

I was reading that too.

I know it's got to be a ****ty job. It's just they are so close to the incident.

The other drivers not slowing down are pretty stupid, the flags are going big time, plus you have to slow down big time for that left hander anyway.

Would I risk my life? If it looked remotely like someone was going to cook in a car in front of me? Yes, 100% I would................ Although, what good a tubby bloke with a case of beer could do, I'm not too sure

In hindsight we know the car doesn't go up, but first glance at that you are half waiting for it.

Exactly

A marshal's first priority is not to help the person in the accident, its to make sure its safe for them to attempt to help. Rushing across the circuit might only make things worse, and i'm guessing they were expecting another pack of cars through shortly (in typical VLN style). Its a blind approach to Wehrseifen too - pop round the downhill right hander and straight into the left hander where the rolled car was, i certainly wouldn't fancy standing on the circuit there.

Oh, and as i'm taking my lady with me, it looks like i'll just have to make do with eating (food ) and drinking only!

edit/ just read worzel's post.... i wonder if those yellow flags were the only ones. coming round the right hander, your eyes will be looking at the next left - and the yellows would be out of your eye-line i reckon.

The flag guy is doing the right thing.
But fook me, the Marshals where not exactly rushing were they.

Oh and if a guy was in danger of dyinmg infomt of me, i would ditch the flags and all protocol without question, and yes that means risking your own life.

I think you guys would too.

I think most of the powder flying about during the impact looks like fire extingher? whcih was probably what stopped it going up.. if it had he could have been in trouble.
