Default Possible opening times 2012

THIS IS A *PROVISIONAL* LIST OF OPENING TIMES PROVIDED BY THE NAG.
Last updated on December 15th, 2011

All the 2012 Nurburgring Nordschleife public days, or touristenfahrten, openings in one place!

CLICK HERE if you want to know the difference between a public opening, a trackday and a training day

These opening times are subject to change. Dates can change very quickly! The usual culprit is bad weather, fog and heavy rain. No visibility = no safety = no driving. This can happen on any day of the year in the Eifel. According to a statement you can read on other pages of this sire, the management will not 'sell' touristenfahrten sessions within 14 days of their due date... this simply isn't true. So be careful! Never make big plans around a single day, try to get 'insurance' by choosing a day with options before or after it.

Provisional 2012 Nόrburgring Nordschleife Public Openings

Interesting mate. I think we'll wait for the official list to come out though, which is always after Christmas.

Last year it looked all doom and gloom with no opening time. But that changed.

However, if the worst happens and if it stays as per the list, we might have to think about changing the date and bringing forward a week. Which is potentially not good.

Hmmm.... hoping there's more dates to be added!

Off out in a sec but i might have a google later to see if theres any VLN or big event on that weekend that means they wouldn't be able to run touristenfahrten.

Looks like we need to change our dates guys!

Did some Googling and 1st-3rd June is Rock am Ring - think Glastonbury for rockers, but bigger. The whole area gets wrapped up in the event and they use the old Nordschleife and surrounding areas for camping, hence no dates at all for circuit driving.

Just spoken to Worzel and he's going to give Jackie a bell to see if she can accomodate us on the weekend before.

We know this might stuff things up for some people but it seems unavoidable, its a pain that the Ring doesn't release the opening dates further in advance!

Cheers for the heads up Steve! I will call jackie this afternoon!

Like you said, it's a proper pain in the backside that we can't get these dates earlier, that is why we have to post this thread as two separate things! The Christmas post being the proper official thing!

I will post as soon as I have spoken to jackie

Looks like we're out then! I wouldn't think the weekend before would be that likely either, surely the rock am ring takes some serious setting up?

How about Easter, 6th 7th 8th april All day opening each day and Friday (6th) is a Bank Holiday so no time off needed for anybody?

in previous years it has been afternoon only.

But as we know things can and do change.

Right then chaps, I have just spoken to Jackie.

It looks like good old GMBH have made a right fookin mess of things!

The Rock AM ring thing was not booked that long ago for starters, so that's one thing, I spoke to her with regards the weekend of Friday 25th May - Monday 28th May, the first thing Jackie said was, that's the 24 hour race weekend, I have bookings for that already! She then checked while I was on the phone and that has been moved to the weekend before now!

What a balls up. This is why GmbH are in the ****, they don't know their arses from elbows!

Anyhow, the weekend of the 25th -28th is provisionally booked

I will get the official post up later on, but we need to get cracking on these dates.

My humble apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and if some people can't make it on these dates, but these are circumstances beyond our control! I hope you can all still make it!

Balls! Bank holiday is the 4th June so only way we could do it is travel up late on the Friday and then home on the Sunday

........

Therefore we'll be on the 6pm train on the Friday and the 6pm train back on the Sunday! And feel like **** on the Monday at work!! As Sian says we'd do Alton Towers and back in a weekend and the ring is bigger better longer and faster!

Sorry about that Nick!

One other option to throw into the mix is the idea of going for an extra day, drive down on the Friday and come home on the Tuesday giving 3 solid days on the ring?

Let me know what you think chaps

I thought we were doing that anyway.

We could always come back after a morning session on the Monday and not come home via Brugge. It would only take 4hrs.
