Guy B's Scooby
Unfortunately, I didn't get much opportunity to take pictures during the day, we were pretty busy from start to finish. But here's a few.
Snowfoam / Washing / Claying / rinsing done etc Then it's fast forward right to the end of the day. There was literally n time to take any other pics This shot doesn't work as well in total darkness, it's a much better process done during daylight, luckily I was able to bounce the flash and at least get close to what we were looking for. |

Great result!
How long on average do you think it should take to claybar a car? Or does it depend on certain factors like the product your using or how much crud is on the car!?

Cheers chaps
Tomma, clay really depends on several things. Contaminate levels (tar & sap being the worst). Prep before claying as follows, we always Rinse, foam, rinse, wash, rinse, treat any stubborn muck (tar etc), rinse. Then and only then do you clay. As long as the stubborns have been treated properly, they will come off with the clay, don't rub in the treatment and tar before though If you are using something like Tardis, it's safest to treat and clay it one panel at a time. I would say to be safe it takes 2 of us claying anywhere 20-30 mins. That is minus doing alloys. We always remove the wheels to clean them thoroughly and get under the arches, brake callipers, suspension etc. |

that's clearly where i'm going wrong, when i've been claying my car the bar has been getting stuck on the bodywork and bits of the bar have smeared off....
Back to car cleaning school for me i think OR get a decent detail sounds better!! Thanks for the advice much appreciated!

Just the meguiar's clay kit as a pack, i'm not really clued up on what to buy so any suggestions for a basic detailing kit would be helpful.... maybe post a 'dummies guide' thread for a car cleaning kit, don't want to hijack Guy's thread!

As long as you are using the lube that's part of that kit, you should be fine. Just take the time to get the **** off first, as per the earlier post. It can be laborious but it's ultimately worth the effort.

This is the stuff I use
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detail...2/prod_37.html http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detail.../prod_594.html You are better IMHO getting a concentrate like this and making up a spray bottle yourself, make sure you use plenty |
