Default psi boost problems

hi there , is anyone know how to check for boost leaks on a v3/4 sti as my booast gauge is reading 9psi and i thought that was a bit low .. am i connecting iut into the right place can anyone help . doesn tfeel sluggish but 9psi seems a bit low

Sounds like it's in the wrong place and you are reading actuator cracking pressure rather then real pressure.

If the gauge is conneted to the hoses surrounding the turbo, that will be the case.
This type of connection was fine on older cars i.e early turbo's that ran actuator pressure i.e Cossie's etc... but the more modern cars run an electronic control bleed-off style boost control and lower actuator cracking pressure.

you are right. im taking reading off of actuator hoses etc where shud i take a reading from ??

Any small vacum hose that is coming from engine side of the throttle assemblynot the intercooler side.
On the 99/00 manifold there is a spare nipple just in front of the throttle.
I think for the 97/98 you need to T into one of the existing 3mm hoses in that area.
