Default Fairford airshow 2011

Was a wet morning, then the sun came out so not too bad, great display from the A10 even though it broke down and the vulcan was awesome especially the full power corkscrew climb,

Here are a few pics of the day.

Globemaster

F16

Netherlands Apache

Royal Jordanian Falcons

Spitfire and P51 Mustang

Spitfire

Chinook

USA Army apache

A10 Warthog

Then it broke down

BAE Hawk

Mirage 2000

Tornado

Eurofighter Typhoon

Dakota

Ukranian Sukhoi SU27 Flanker

And the Vulcan

Even Shaz had a go at taking one

Thanks for looking.

Clive, we had a chat with the pilots, nice guys, spoke a bit of english and we tried to have a look in the cockpit but there was a bit of a queue shame it was only a static aircraft though.

Agreed on that one, it is Fookin' loud!! The last time I saw it fly they only used one engine to keep the noise down.

Some cool photos ...were these taken on the Saturday as I went on he Sunday and have just posted some of my pics of the day. Agree with silversurfer that the A-10 is quiet but when it fires its gatling guns it is fantastic. Unfortunately they can't do that at civilian air show as they would wipe out most of the crowd and the airfield in one pass...as I watched it destroy half a hillside while in the forces so a very cool bit if kit I can tell you. But for sheer noise you can't be either the Vulcan or Typhoon at an air show.

Another thing has just struck me as well it was a real shame that the SU-27 never flew during the display weekend as that would have been really something to see. I saw the MiG-29 at RNAS Yeovilton and that was a great thing to watch doing its stuff and ripping through the sky in tight turns and afterburners on full chat during take off and while it was doing its high speed passes in front of the crowd the noise was fantastic.
