Default any pc gurus out there

Please bear with me on this.........

I have an old pc that is connected to the tv (for films mainly)
Its running xp.
When i turned it on last night it started up to the point where my desktop comes up but everything has shifted over to the left by a couple of inches and i get the colours split(like when watching a movie in 3d without the glasses on).

I checked the cable and took it out,did the great repair of blowing in it,and now i can only get as far as the password page and get 3 lines on the left hand side.

Could it be the graffics card ???? ( pure guess)

many thanks jason

scooby999,is the tv alright,is it the same for the tv channels.

from wot you have said it sounds like the same thing you get with a badly connected scart lead.another thing you can try is retunning the tv channel in.

Without looking at it first hand , i would suggest either cable, graphics card. Cable dont fail often but what you explained sounds possible as this is one of the effects. Graphics card can fail depending on make to be honest, is it a on board graphic card or aftermarket ? I try and help if i can

Sounds like the graphics card to me... If it was the cable you would normally get a green or purple hue on the screen.
