How do you buy a vehicle without a logbook???

My boss is still in the process of sorting me out a van and saw one cheap but without a logbook...
I have no experiance buying without a log book,how would that go down??

Sounds very dodgy to me.

If it was me, it would be a case of re-arrange the next sentence.

I recently went to buy a car with my mother, the guy selling it could not find the log book.
What we did was phone DVLA and got them to confirm he was the registered keeper, that way we were happy the car was legitimate and not stolen.
The guy selling us the car then applied for a new log book, he then forwarded it on to us.
Was a pain but not a real problem.

Be very carefull when buying without a logbook,as spoke to my hubby who sells cars for a living,and his advice was check with DVLC first to make sure seller,is the registered keeper.. if seems genuine then go ahead,but bare in mind that unless he applies for the log book,then sends to you.for you to apply for a new logbook will cost you £25 unless you can send along the green slip part of the logbook...

if seller has green part only still check seller is registered keeper,then apply for the logbook yourself....

Go see the local pikey's and they normally get them to order

well basically he saw it at an auction but its my bosses cash so im not bothered atall lol i know there not dodgy but had no idea how to get the log book..
he is pretty cheap and didnt get it anyways but will still be needing something later on...
