So far this is not looking good for SES formal presence.
It won't be worth pulling together a stand and the early start aggravations for such small numbers. We could however still try to meet up and all go in together to the public parking area's. Let's hope they increase soon, as I will need to advise the organisers at the end of next week. 1 BIG "E" 2 Silversurfer (TBD) 3 Ginola & Handbrake 4 Red Baron 5 pete2273 6 Lucky 7 Scoobystu 8 Hongkongfooi/simba 9 10 |

Agreed Scott. I think we need a minimum of 15 cars and 20 would be better.

OK, after much debate I have decided that SES shall attend this in an official capcity and therefore shall have a club stand.
I will advise the organisers this evening that we shall require club space for 12 - 14 cars !!!! (it'll leave a bit of space) Clubs need to be on-site by 08:45, so our target time will be 08:30am Meet point is Pease Pottage Service (M23), for a 7:45 depart (latest) ATTENDEE's : 1 BIG "E" 2 Silversurfer 3 Ginola & Handbrake 4 Red Baron 5 pete2273 6 Lucky 7 Scoobystu 8 Hongkongfooi/simba 9 Martinjameswoods 10 Drakesnow |

OK, we have had another chat behind the scenes and have come to the conclusion that due to the low numbers and late attendee's (there is a risk H&S will prevent them joining the stand) that we will meet up, but drive in as public. You will also get an extra 1.5 hours in bed
Gates Open at 9:00, so we aim to be there for 9:45-10:00 Meet point is Pease Pottage Service (M23), for a 9:00 depart (latest) ATTENDEE's : 1 Silversurfer 2 Ginola & Handbrake 3 Red Baron 4 pete2273 5 Lucky 6 Scoobystu 7 Hongkongfooi/simba 8 Martinjameswoods 9 Drakesnow |

Update to times.
Gates Open at 9:00, so we aim to be there for 9:45-10:00 Meet point is Pease Pottage Service (M23), for a 9:00 depart (latest) Apologies for all the changes, but we figure why get out of bed so early when we have such small numbers. Also I am a bit pissed with the organisers for several reasons, so don't want us busting our balls for their benefit..... It will be interesting to see how many club stands are there this year compared to previous. Too much focus on the supercars and not enough on the backbone of the event IMHO. If it were not for my two boys wanting Supercar Rides I doubt I would be going..... Hopefully it will be a great day and I will go home eating humble pie (or maybe just a cookie) RANT over.....see you Sunday....... |

Can those intending to meet up for the convoy please add details to the list, as this will determine the meet point.
For the majority it looks like the A23/A27 garage at Patcham is a better option than Pease Pottrage, and this would save a bit of time too.... Those coming from Worthing area could rendevouse on the A272/A24 junction POSTCODE FOR VENUE : GU6 8HY ATTENDEE's : 1 Silversurfer (Prefer Patcham then A23/A272 to Dunsfold) 2 Ginola & Handbrake 3 Red Baron 4 pete2273 5 Lucky 6 Scoobystu 7 Hongkongfooi/simba 8 Martinjameswoods 9 Drakesnow (arriving later) |

A264/281 junction with A24 Happy to tag on from 272 or the shell, at the 281 but the 272 junction with the service station there is a traffic light controlled cross roads (if it's a moving convoy might be a pain)

Ok due to the confusion of people coming from all directions, some coming at the last minute and some dropping out the logistics of a meet up and convoy have got far too complicated.
Therefore there will be no organised meet point. Feel free to talk/arrange amongst yourselves. My plan is to leave at 8 and will probably go economy clsss in the diesel as my boys have already cost me 2 supercar rides. The Scoob can have a run out to Goodwood next weekend. |

I will be at the Shell station on the roundabout at the Broadbridge Heath junction of the A24 at 8am, leaving at 10 past. I need to avoid the traffic or any queues as I have a knackered Left Knee!
Commuting to work this week has been very expensive!!

Overall it was a nice day, but I think there is a fair amount that could be done better, which I will list.
I would also welcome your idea's and add it to the list. I will then pass this feedback to the event organisers. Here's the start :

The rides were far too expensive for what was provided. If they were half the price they would have made more money and there were enough cars to cope with the additional turn over. 3 laps was also not enough - the brakes and tyres were just warming up when we had to.come in.
I also felt there needed to be more static displays as mentioned by Scott - it would be better to have more focus away from just the 'super'cars runs. It would have also been nice to pay to go on some of the planes, although appreciate these are owned by third parties and may have been difficult to arrange. |

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback and once again apologies for a difficult gestation for this years event.
We've already changed things in that respect for next year by launching for 2015 today! I've taken notes of all the comments and will be putting them to the committee to see what can be done to improve things. Some of them though I already know the answers to so i will explain those now, the rest we will take on board! Quote:
The ones on the leaflet were the ones who originally said yes then dropped out after printing... it happens and i'm hoping the changes will mean they wont drop out for 2015. The grass thing is a bugbear of hours... it's a working airfield and they want to use the grass so are reticent to cut it... plus..... you never know the weather, this year was amazing but if it had rained the grass would have been off limits..... But if you can think of how to get around that we'd welcome the input We do want to look at the layout, having been to the event how would you move things around? Supercar Paddock.... sadly that's not an option. The cars are left there while the owners go to lunch... whilst we can vouch for a few people and of course you can vouch for yourselves we can't be sure that (even accidentally) the cars may be damaged or souvenir hunted - they have to be out on track so the owners need to know they have not been tampered with in any way and the only way to ensure that 100% is not to allow anyone in. it is shorter, for two reasons - the demand we had outstripped supply so we needed to give more people the chance to ride and of course bearing in mind this is a all about maximising revenue for the charity we unashamedly shift the demand / supply curve to compensate by adjusting the price and availability... we still were pretty much sold out except for the last 30 mins..... it's also more fun as there are more corners and 3 laps instead of 2. The other reason is war and tear on the cars, they are out multiple times on a demanding airfield, as you may have noticed that takes its toll on the cars and the drivers, brakes need to be cooled, tyres checked and drivers rested.... it's a safety thing - you can only stay that intense for short periods unless you do track days or race a lot which most of our drivers don't do. Viewing area - i tend to agree, would love to try and change that if i can. No toilets in the car park there were a lot next to the ticket tent behind where you were queuing for the rides..... that's the greatest footfall area so it seemed logical but i can look into another site in addition, they are expensive but and we try to keep costs low but i can ask! Quote:
Plus, when we had the long track layout we had three problems, 1. The paddock was overcrowded due to lack of space, 2. The cars were hitting silly speeds at the end of the main straight and The Children's Trust want to mitigate the speed (they look after children with acquired brain injuries and a lot of those are from car accidents so we have to respect their wish to make things safer) 3. We had nowhere that was a hardstanding to put all the other attractions, Caterhams, sporting bears, segways, karts etc I agree, more displays and more attractions would be a good thing - the planes are off limits as the owners will not allow us near them.... shame, i'd love to look over them too! I hope that helps - Don't think because i've given reasons that i won't change things for the better if i can, the focus for this event is the charity, maximise revenue, keep everyone safe and raise their profile - that's why we err on the side of caution and keep costs low when we can. It sounds like penny pinching but every penny spent means one less for them. I will try and get the balance more in the favour of fun though Last edited by Harsh; 24-06-2014 at 09:57 PM. |

thanks for replying Harsh. You've answered all the points but not a lot looks like changing I guess beyond your control. If I thought it will be the same next year I won't bother going I'm afraid.

It doesn't mean it won't change, we always listen to the feedback and try and improve things on that basis, so if it's possible to do so we will... |

I would also like to add to SilverSurfers post above,
In that the club stands where not club stands at all the 3 (ours being un-offical) where merely forward car parking spots. More seriously I would also like to point out the very bad Health and Safety aspect of the unmarked or railed off "step" on the tarmac to the side of the pedestrian walk way leading past the supercar queue to the Lexus stand, where my father fell and broke his finger, bruised hand, arm and cut knee, My better half Wanda also fell on the same piece of tarmac further along the same crowded pedestrian walk way and injured her knee while trying to seek medical attention for my father.. St Johns ambulance members attending to my father said they had several calls for similar incidents on the Saturday but nothing was done to rectify this for the Sunday??? In the time my father was being treated I noticed a further 6 people trip on the same piece of walk way.. I did however enjoy my passenger ride in the Merc SLS AMG,.. many thanks to Pierce for the spirited drive.. I would also ask why no one came back to me with regards to offering to drive for you on circuit, I contacted you several times on Facebook in advance so as I could organise insurance and so forth and was told I would receive an answer before the weekend preceding the event, but no one came back to me.. yet you say you only just had enough vehicles? I did notice a nice fiat 500 going round...

I was unaware of the falls (St Johns Ambulance didn't report anything back to us at all as far as i'm aware) More importantly i'm really sorry to hear about the injuries suffered by your father. It does sound serious if 6 other people fell whilst you were being treated.... If you can let me know who you contacted or alerted to this situation I will personally seek them out. The Fiat 500 was a bit of an anomaly...I'm not sure how that got out there.... As i don't know your real name I can't check your messages, feel free to PM it to me so I can go back and find out why you weren't contacted. |

I did not alert anyone to the issue as I assumed seeing so many people have the same problem and that I was told by St Johns Abulance that they had attended several incidents previously on the Saturday for exactly the same thing the organisers would already have been made aware, at the time I was concerned for my fathers well being, as he has had a triple heart bypass and went into shock..
