How long does it take to get from Clacket Lane services to the Tescos?

With what I believe is through a section of road works??

Sorry my knowledge of that area is not great.

Clacketts it towards the end of the "stretch of doom". 50mph average speed cameras... had to go through it last night.

Nice and quick after that though. CJ's estimate is spot on I'd say.

Can the Gazebo go up without guy ropes? Weather isn't looking too good according to the BBC this morning and we'll struggle to get tent pegs into the concrete of the Brooklands banking.

Hoping I get a dry spell tomorrow to do my brakes otherwise I won't be going.

We're making do with the flags as we don't think they'll be anywhere to tie/peg the gazebo down and we don't want a gust picking it up and dropping it on someones scoob

Weather looks changeable so i think we'll have to just see what happens, don't think the forecast is going to be too accurate. Its already changed in the last hour

Yeah, too windy for an accurate forecast.

Pack your coats and wellies and dress up warmly... that usually guarantees good weather!

I'll have my kids so will be playing it by ear, they'll be miserable if it's cold and wet all day, really hope it's going to be dry as it looks like a good day.

Good idea but it's all locked away and there's no one home, hopefully home a bit earlier myself tonight so may do it then, need to service the Passat as well as it's overdue.

Managed to find half an hour to give the car a quick wash, but it isn't up to my usual standards... no time for polish, etc. Hope it isn't an embarrassment compared to the rest out you tomorrow.

By the look of the weather forecast you might have wasted your time,

It is not looking good..

You wouldn't think it a waste if you'd seen it before.

The forecast was for heavy rain here today and the sun has been out all day so far.

Just to say if I am not there, then I will be at home with my head down the toilet. A planned birthday get together for a friend tonight now sounds like it is going to get messier than first thought.....oh dear! Apologies if I don't get there, but spare a thought for me if this is the case.

Come on, its only a bit of water

If it does rain then there's plenty of shelter up there I'm sure - between Brooklands and Mercedes benz world....

Joking aside, looking at the photos you appear to have broken the back of it. Should be good when it's done.

I'm out. Due to crap forecast I started decorating my sons room.just stopped and only half done so need to finish tomorrow.
If I'm done by 11and the weathers worth the travel I will shoot up for lunchtime.
I will be up at 8 to give Ian the flags so I may knock of the painting in time to make something of the day.

Sorry I too am out!!!

After a lot of thought !!!!,

Having just watched latest weather forecast

I have decided I can not justify a 144 mile round trip.

All display and track demonstration cars will have exclusive entry via the Brooklands Road entrance

For those that are still going there is 6 places to have a drive up the hill.
CJ is booked in to have a drive on the Mercedes Track,

The event organisers name is Phil Ward.

I hope those of you that attend have a good time !!

Yep, had a short-notice weekend away with the wife in Ascot, so already up here with the scoob (about 20 mins from Brooklands).

Good to meet some of you today. Bit of a shame it was as wet as it was, but still a good little event I thought.

Some interesting cars there and we got a good look at the underside of Concorde if nothing else.

Weather was pretty shocking wasn't it. Thanks to those that did make it - we ended up with 6 scoobs in the end. They started running the hill about 2:30pm but Simon/Jo and Claire/I were the last to leave as they were just setting it up. Tbh, the hill looked pretty bumpy and narrow to be hooning up there, considering a river running down it lol

No not really. Its not really usable - steep and covered in wet mould, and pretty bumpy too. Its showing the signs of its age!

The guy who showed us in had kittens at the sight of you turning on the banking. He would have exploded if we had driven on it properly!!

lol

As we were leaving, there was nobody around so Simon parked up high on the banking for some photos. They must have some CCTV up there somewhere as it was only a couple of minutes before two guys came along in a golf buggy and made us leave the banking area completely (despite the fact that they parked us up there in the first place).

One of them mentioned that they've had car clubs park on the banking before and one car has slid down the bank on the green wet slimey stuff straight into another car.... guess they're a bit Health & Safety worried.

Well done to those who went for it, still looked like a good day. As expected, I spent the day bolted to the bog. Not good.
