Default Feb 2012 - SES Meet & RR Runs, Sun 19th Feb - JRM Sumo Power, Rye , Sussex

For the Feb 2012 SES meet, we will be visiting/meeting the guy's at JRM/Sumo power, who have kindly agreed to open up the facility on Sunday 19th Feb. 11am - 4pm....

More details on what the team at Sumo will have on offer will be provided nearer the time, but needless to say this is a great oppurtunity to have a nose around one of the largest facilities in our region.

http://www.sumopower.com/

http://www.jrm-racing.com/

http://www.jrm-group.com/index.php

Email/Details Recieved from Sumo :

Scott,

Hope you’re well. Below is the text which explains what’s going on on the day for you to post up ☺

Morning all,

Just a quick note to say we’d like to invite you down to Sumo Power for an open day on Sunday 19th Feb if that’s ok with you guys ☺

The day will run from 11am-4pm and we’ve got loads to pack into that time! Not only will you tour our fantastic state-of-the-art workshop, bodyshop and engineering facilities but our famous GT1 cars will be on display – along with a few other very interesting projects ......

Also we’ll be hosting dyno runs for those who want them, priced at only £45 (inc. VAT). Not only is our rolling road the most advanced in Europe but it’s also one of the best in the world! Due to the precise and lengthy safety procedures involved in setting up a car on our rr, we will be limiting the number of runs to 5 – but who knows, maybe we can have more if time allows ☺

We very much look forward to having you guys down for the day. Those of you that wish to come down for the social aspect and a looky round are more than welcome - We'll also keep you all fed and watered throughout the day too.

And the stores guys will be on hand for the day for any parts sales and will have a nice little South East Scoobies discount for parts purchased in advance and collected on the day, so please email sales@sumopower.com or call 01797 222281 to pre-order so that it can get organised.. As always we’d all rather be walking round looking at cool cars and being sociable than being indoors!

Any questions - Please ask

Some people who have been to other r&r days get a little disappointed with Jrm's. No before you start not because the car falls off. The rollers tend to read low compared to others. It would be good if Nick could maybe get a run at Surry 1st for a comparison. I'm not sure what I'm working as yet so can't make a decision.

Mines the same spec as it was last run at Surrey at 440 and I'll take the print outs with me for comparison - I may be up there again before Feb but it's unlikely I'll go on the rollers as all I need is the Wideband turned back on (once I've bought and fitted it!).

What do you call a small job Ian?

perhaps a full 600BHP build with sequential box & brakes & suspension to match

I've just bought a kit car on carbs and was wondering if I can bring that along for a carb set up then a few runs? Or is it just power runs that they want to do due to time?

Sounds interesting Craig. Will have to look out for that. I think its just power runs on the day mate but may be wrong.

Best person to set up carbs in the Hastings area would be Vince at RDS. He runs a Mk1 Escort in the Classic Rally Championships and it sounds Sweeeeeetttt sucking through the Webber's.
