Well I had my first sprint of the season yesterday and the first time out in the Subaru. What an awesome piece of kit for driving on the limit (most likely my limit and not the car's)
Ended up with another Hawkeye and a Blobeye in my class, along with a Celica GT4, an FQ300 and a near as damn it race prepped Sierra Cosworth 4x4. Took 3rd in class at the end, behind the Sierra (which was in a totally different league to my times) and the Evo, but was the quickest Scoob and also beat my best mate in the GT4 so for the most part I'm pretty pleased. The only real downside was the brakes, which given that sprinting is short and sharp use rather than sustained abuse like on a trackday was a cause for concern. Finished practice 1 and could smell the pads, but I had just been using them so didnt think much of it. P2 I had slightly spongy brakes and more of the smell once the run was complete. This then continued with my 3 timed runs with the braking getting progressively worse. The end result is smoked front pads and blued disks. Going to have to change the pads at the least and probably fluid as well. Hopefully the disks will be fine. All in all a good day, even if I have got to do some remedial work to the brakes as a result. |

first of what spec of car and what have you actually got F&R??
if your on OE stuff you'll struggle regardless generally part of the issue can be caused by lack of cool down time after your runs and always worth leaving in gear / chocking wheels rather than using a h/brake to park

I would think we had 30-40 mins between runs yesterday, but I have no idea how lond brakes would take to cool when sitting stationary having no air flow. Car was left in gear between runs rather than on the hand brake but I will be taking some chocks next time as well. |

Thanks. Having used a few different cars for sprinting over the last 3 years, this is easiliy the most fun. Just a couple of little niggles to sort out, brakes obviously being the most important and then I should be all set for a good fun season.

I'm afraid the only thing I can tell you is that they are the ones on the car when I bought it in December. They have been very good under normal conditions but I think competitive driving was asking a bit too much of them.

Hi Ross this thread will answer your question http://bbs.scoobynet.com/842547-ebc-...reviews-8.html From mine point of view probably these pads are great, like from cold etc. At moment i have fitted K-Sport 8 pots, with DS2500 from some reports these are dusty and i'm looking for replacement and mine choice will be again EBC BlueStuff NDX Jura |

for day to day ad track use i would personally fit PF z-rated pads (fantastic performance and value when compared to others in the market) - you will not find a more fade resistant pad unless you step up into a pukka race pad
we also do "forum" deals..........

Regarding fade resistance, you must be classing the EBC Bluestuff as a pukka race pad then Alyn
![]() PF Z is very good value with the new lower price. ![]() Will be a few Time Attack cars running the Bluestuff NDX now including the 2011 KSport Time Attack Pro car (was previously running PF 01 Pads): ![]() Ross: good result, am sure the new pads will help further. ![]()

Thanks. Hopefully my times will improve as my faith that the car is going to stop is restored. The PF pads certainly seem to suit my needs and there is no doubt they are going to be better than what I have at present.
There is a hateful breaking zone at the track we are heading to next that can make or break a run. Hopefully I'll get it right and move up the table a bit. |

not seen many other pads literally on fire whilst the driver carries on oblivious Bob's but if Blues can do that then happy days..............
