Default Intercooler spray

Hi peeps,
Does anyone know if the intercooler spray is automatic?? Only ask as I have manual button, but didn't use it yest and my intercooler reservoir keeps going empty...there are no leaks under car and boot isn't wet around the reservoir either - but every other day it's empty and I haven't pressed the button once?!?!?

Cheers

Ryan

Mine had some sort of solanoid fitted that made it automatic, triggered by throttle position. It failed recently and wouldn't stop running (emptied the bottle in under 15mins) so it was removed and I've no interest in putting another one back in! Mines an 03 UK Sti.

Its not really all that useful, I think I have filled mine twice in two and a half years, it was good for a laugh pressing it at some traffic lights but even then your talking about a couple of degrees charge temp drop at best. I would not worry but put it on the "things I need to do when I have nothing better to do and I'm bored" list.

you could fill it and cap the feed pipe with a small bolt or something, that way you know its not leaking anywhere and no more leak, (just remove the pipe and put a small bit of silicon with a bolt in it and a cable tie instead)

Does the pump run when you press the switch ? you should be able to hear it.

Manual spray is pretty pointless to be honest, other than for giving it a quick squirt along the back straight at the Nurburgring, whilst you take a breather from all the up down and bendy bits.

Just to clarify, the dodgy solanoid was removed from mine not the whole spray system. It now works as it was intended, ie. when I can be ****d to push the button

It's possible that you've also had one fitted?

No expert but I have been told auto spray is linked to inlet temperature so could it be a sensor that is faulty?
