This years trip will be different !!

Through no fault of mine we will not be going back to the hotel we have used for the last 6 years,

I am working quite hard (with Jacqueline s help) to find an alternative hotel which is not easy considering we are going at a popular time.

Please can you give me some idea of the number of people that would like to be part of the 7th SES trip ASAP

With regards to which hotel we will be staying in,

INFORMATION REGARDING FINAL CONFIRMATION OF NUMBERS & CANCELLATIONS :

10th April : Cut off Date for Changes/Cancellations. No charge will be applied for cancellations. Additional rooms 'May' be available at request.

10th April - 1st May : Cancellations will be subject to 50% charge for the room.

1st May : Cancellations after 1st May will be required to pay the full room rate.

This year we won't be staying with Jackie, but with Eddy at Hotel-an-der-Nordschleife :

I think all those that stayed enjoyed the facilities, bar and restaurant and location.

The bonus with this Hotel :

1. Location (probably the best located hotel in the area)
2. Onsite Bar & Restaurant (that does 'Steak On-The-Stone')
3. Lidl's 75 meters away, to stock your Fridge with Germans best Bitburger
4. Balcony Views of Track.
5. Nearby Cafés
6. Nearby good quality Pizza Restaurant

For those not sure where this hotel is.....here's a little clue :



We have provisionally booked for 19 persons (based on the current list). This is split as follows :

5x Double/Twin Rooms : 84 Euro per night, inc Breakfast
1x Single : 65 Euro per night, inc Breakfast
1x Apartment (sleeps 4) : 140 Euro per night, inc Breakfast
1x Apartment (sleeps 4) : 180 Euro per night, inc Breakfast

Although the above room rates vary, to make things easier we shall pay as a group. This total will then be divided amongst the total persons that attend.
At this moment this works out at approx. 170 Euro's per person (for 4 nights)

In order to firm this booking up with Eddy, I need to ask you all for a Deposit to secure your rooms.
I therefore need to ask for £50 from each pair, in order to cover the 540 Euro Deposit.

You can always commit now. I am sure we can claw your deposit back nearer the time if give enough notice. You have until early April to change your mind.

This is the Hotel Policy, which seems fair enough :

It's a fantastic location with only a short walk to the circuit. I loved it the last time we stayed there hearing the first car go round at 8 whilst laying in bed and nipping up to the track to watch.
There's also a number of very cheap restaurants nearby - mainly Italian - but very good value. Great for the non-drivers as they don't need to rely on being driven somewhere.
I'm there a few times in May and hopefully look forward to seeing you there! If anyone is thinking of renting a car for the ring please let me know and I'll see if I can sort something out.

Ha ha. Unfortunately not - only TF sessions on weekday evenings or closed trackdays otherwise I'll be hiring. Trackday organised for August which will be fun. Flat out along Döttinger Höhe is always fun-although last time in a swift the vmax wasnt that quick!

Excellent news on Eddies. Surprised it wasnt booked up as its an awesome location for a group. I agree with all Greg has said about it. Its like having the best seat in the house. Fantastic to just sit by the road and watch the fantastic cars drive by on their way to the high octane petrol station or on track.

i hope to still be able to go with him but things are going to take a while to sort out and i know he won't leave the family unless he feels it is ok for him to do so.

According to recent press they're going to charge according to demand. More for peak and weekends and less for off peak and weekdays. Not sure anyone knows to be honest

Just checked, that is good.... In 2013 I took 900 euros which cost me £780. The same 900 euros now only costs £687

I assume this hotel takes cards for room payments rather than taking a load of extra cash? Although might make sense to take cash anyway as the exchange rate might not be as good in May.....

We obviously need to know which nights,

it would be good if you could join us either on the way out or the return journey..

If it's possible please Ian,
We will travel down on the Friday with you stay and leave late sat night.
One twin bed room only needed for the Friday eve. If we can stay on longer il sort it nearer the time if requires another hotel that's fine but really need to be back for the Sunday.

Had a bit of a result today when my brother returned from his skiing trip in Italy with 250 Euro's left over. I offered him some cash at a very favourable rate for myself and he gladly accepted. Think it's the best exchange rate I am going to get!

INFORMATION REGARDING FINAL CONFIRMATION OF NUMBERS & CANCELLATIONS :

10th April : Cut off Date for Changes/Cancellations. No charge will be applied for cancellations. Additional rooms 'May' be available at request.

10th April - 1st May : Cancellations will be subject to 50% charge for the room.

1st May : Cancellations after 1st May will be required to pay the full room rate.

Didn't end up sorting money so just checked today and its the best rate i've seen so far - 1.3176 euros to the £. Wonder if the euro will fall further or if getting rid of Greece will actually revive some confidence in the currency?
