I've always thought of Imprezas and Evos as being pretty much on par with eachother but why is it that there is such a difference in price on used ones? The evo seems to hold its value much better than the Subaru. Is it because the Scoob is a more common car?
Not calling the scoob common by the way, i just mean theres more of them on the road... Last edited by Scruff; 31-01-2014 at 10:31 PM. |

All evos are insurance group 20. so the young and dum could never afford them..back in the 90s they were still grey imports... scoobs were sold in the uk group 17 and was that much easier to get a hold of...
just my thoughts but the scoob became the late 90s sierra cossie....young drivers driving cars way faster than they could drive resulting in AnE trips!! also prime targets for the thief joy rider just like the cossie was late 80s early 90s insurance companys dont like it. the evo escaped all this to a degree...they were mostly still in japan!!

Less available = less choice = higher prices.

Just a case of supply and demand, and also maintenance costs, second hand parts are that bit more, and they are not as mainstream as scoobs.
There is now abundance of scoob breakers or privates selling cheap parts and its probably cheaper and easier to get second hand parts for a scoob than it is for a Ford Fiesta at the moment. Value for money scoobs IMHO are the cheapest means of performance motoring our there, both in terms of purchase price and running costs. Which is why is also attracts a 'mixed bag' of owners. |
