De-Tango Success - CEL Fail
Took a brave pill today and de-tangoed my headlights after receiving some Silvatec indicator bulbs from Scoobyparts. Really pleased with the result after a trouble free hour of headlight removal and baking (might even enter the Great British Bake-off now!).
In an unrelated turn of events my trouble now is the appearance of the check engine light. I had it a month or so back and using my cheapo eBay special diagnostics checker found it to be "Camshaft Position Sensor B Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2)". I have managed to remove and clean all 3 camshaft position sensors (2003 Sti Type UK) as I read this is a good place to start. I cleared the code and up until today it had not shown up again. I am pretty confident I have a failed sensor, question is which one as most of my internet searching hasn't really helped, has anybody got any ideas or advise? Car runs fine and due to the nature of the sensor in question I would not expect it to have a major impact on day to day running. I would love to get this sorted ASAP as I am hoping to take the car for a bit of fun around the Goodwood circuit at the end of the month. Rob

Hmmm...
Interesting, but rather confusing with the descriptions of the bank being 'a or b' or '1 or 2' in the second post. Judging by the post at the bottom of the page they changed the rear sensor on what would be the passenger side of a UK car for 'sensor A (bank 2)', does that make bank 2 our passenger side?

I think so, it seems a common fault, take it out and give it a clean, if that doesn't work find a second hand sensor on ebay for cheap and replace.

I think that will be my best bet, I can change one and see how things go, a bit of trial and error I guess. I have cleaned them all recently, being where they are I am not surprised how mucky they can get, just a shame it is such a pain to get the things in and out.

Why not buy a genuine replacement from Subaru, order one from Gatwick Subaru and they will post it to you if required.
they may be a little more expensive but at least you know what you are getting or contact Alyn at AS Performance.

Just need to establish which one as the two rear sensors for the AVCS are of a different style to that of the sensor on the front of the engine. If I knew it to be the sensor at the front which is that shown in your link on ICP for the camshaft pulley I would snap one up!

Purchased a genuine sensor from Import Car Parts today, should be delivered tomorrow. I have gambled with the AVCS cam sensor as I think I have narrowed it all down with some research, either that or I am hoping for the best baring in mind they make up 2 of the 3 sensors!
