The only manual boost controller you should running is called a dawes devices, basicially these have a ball bearing inside them and the work by the tighter you wind them in the more the boost will increase, these imo are faultless, do not get a bleed valve these work by the more you wind them out the more boost you get, they are prone to sticking and often blow things up. as tone has said an electronic boost controller is best but they are not always that easy to use, AVCR is the best imo, with regards to downing the boost to save fuel it is utter rubbish, you are not going to hit full boost round town long enough to notice the difference in fuel.
