Enter your User CP found at top left of front page.
Under settings & Options select "Edit Options"
Go to very bottom of page where you will find" Miscellaneous Options"
Under the message editor interface select "Enhanced Interface" from the drop down.

Hey Presto, you will now have all smiley's and full editor facilities
