Insurance Time Again
Afternoon all,
I hate this time of year, when the dreaded car insurance comes up for renewal. Cutting a long story short, I've had a bit of a nightmare trying to get a decent quote for my 2016 STi. Maybe I was lucky last year, I managed to get the car insured with Elephant for £420 with 13 years no claims, no accidents/convictions, 10k miles per year, legal cover/personal accident/courtesy car etc etc and a £350 total excess.
My renewal landed in my email inbox last week, for which they wanted £589 to renew. After a phone call they offered me a discount which reduced the premium to £490, but I still wasn't happy. Aviva came in competitive at £450 with similar cover, although because of the the type of the car (according to them!), they enforced a £500 "additional excess" on top of the voluntary excess of £150, so the excess came in at £650. So be careful if you insure with Aviva, and check the small print for this, because it isn't immediately obvious.
I've read the threads on here regarding Keith Michaels Insurance, and after a phone call to them, they quoted between £700 and £800 to insure the car! In the end I opted for a broker AIB Insurance, who came in at £448 with a £500 total excess, which was a bit higher than I wanted, but I admitted defeat there and bought the policy.
So if you're looking for an insurance policy this year it's worth giving them a call!
