Alternatively a V8 RS4 for similar reasons, but less involving, but does have 4 wheel drive, and the advant version makes it a very practical car as well.

2 main issues with RS4:
DRC Suspension failures £££
De-Cokes required regularly £££
out of those 2 E92 M3 much better car but make sure throttle actuators have been replaced! £1400 repair for both.
